Smoot is a good player.  I watch a lot of Big Ten Football.  Some of you don't watch enough football, and just want to draft guys based on their names.  I'm pretty damn sure that the front office has put in a little bit more research than any of us on all of these players.  Unless this is your first draft, you should know by now that every pick is a crapshoot, and that any player drafted in any round can be a boom or bust.  So don't [BLEEP] about the picks until they at least touch the damn field.

Also for the people still thinking we're taking a quarterback.  I don't know if you watch Caldwell's presser after selecting Smoot,  but Ryan O asked him something similar to since we hadn't taken in a quarterback in the first 3 picks, if that was an endorsement of Bortles and he said yes.  He also said that we now have new coaches and personnel in the building that have nothing invested in Blake, and they also see the potential and upside in him.  Blake is the starter period.

No QB should be worried about this class of rookies. Blake knows he's the starter and if he doesn't perform well he won't be back. He's also playing for a contract. If he's not motivated by that that's all you need to know.
