Nightmare Days 1 & 2

#1

The Dream Days 1 & 2 thread that hendershot started is very interesting to read and the variety of opinions are helpful in thinking about various draft scenarios for the Jaguars and other teams.   I look forward to looking back at that thread in the days following the draft.

As a result,  if you would like,  please mention one or more realistic Nightmare Days 1 & 2 scenarios you have for the Jags.

Nice thread.

For a semi realistic scenario, I'd probably say Scherff and DGB. Not really wanting to take an O lineman early and DGB had an incredibly low floor with some major concerns.

Trade with Cleveland

12.) Gregory

19.) Peters

36.) DGB

Taking a gamble on 3 of the premier talents that have off-the-field issues and those following them into the NFL and they wash out after a 1.5 years like Blackmon

1. Gregory

2. DGB

3. Funchess

I see Gregory as having huge bust potential, DGB is a convict in waiting and Funchess would be too much of a project if drafted for the WR position.

My nightmare scenario would be to draft anyone who isn't good enough to make the team.

Let's see... for me, a nightmare day would be if we drafted someone that nobody has been talking about, someone like

Arik Armstead at 3

Followed up by someone in round 2 like Dorsett or Lockett (short slot WRs.  If we're drafting slot/PRs, I prefer Agholor)

I'll call this "The WIlliams Nightmare" ....3 positions we already filled in Free Agency...

1. DT Leonard Williams

2. TE Maxx Williams

3. CB P.J. Williams (although he could play FS, just had a DUI)

That would be frustrating from a "fill in the remaining holes" expectation I have for the draft.

Brandon Cooks, Odell Beckham and Julian Edelman say hello.

you want to debate my opinion?

I think Dorsett and Lockett won't be nearly as good as any of those up there.  Beckham is dam near 6' btw.

If you take a guy no one is talking about, you better be right and it better be obvious to everyone else pretty early in the guy's career.  I don't have a problem with it because the pre-draft rankings are all just media speculation anyway.  But it could be a quick route to getting yourself fired if you're wrong.  Who knows what each team's draft board looks like unless you're Dallas and pictures of it get leaked.

FWIW, Greg Cosell has Armstead rated higher than Leonard Williams and is very high on him overall.  He doesn't have Armstead in his top 3 prospects, however.  I like Cosell, not sure he's right about Williams not being a top 3 or at least a top 5 prospect though.  Cosell's top 3 are Fowler, Cooper and Gurley.  Gurley's durability scares me a bit but I think his top 3 is a pretty solid group.

Taking a bust qb in the first and not having any draft picks with the team in four years. Or the 2011 draft.

Picking Mariota in the hope of a trade that breaks down.

And then DGB in the second.

But I'd also be a little disappointed if we picked a WR with our first rounder, just because we went WR-heavy in the second round last year.

Any draft that starts with Fowler, I just don't get the hype around him.
