Anyone remember this video!?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0i1NEz_8_U  I just stumbled upon this on youtube.  blast from the past.

Jaguars.com posted that on draft day after we selected him.  And this board went nuts after that video came out. Folks were so stoked.  I still remember the very first preseason game after we drafted him.  And Jones(who is right handed) caught that bomb down the middle of the field where he laid out and caught it one handed with his left hand.  Stadium went crazy.

What a waste man.  If he coulda laid off the crack and if he had 1/100th the work ethic of a guy like Julian Edelman for example, he would have been such a [BAD WORD REMOVED] NFL WR.

(went looking for a version of that video with better resolution but couldnt find it... i imagine it's gotta be in the jaguars.com archives somewhere)

He could have been so good, remember this dude had 65 catches in 12 games his last year in Jacksonville, what a waste of talent

I really do wish he could have turned out to be a star and not become a druggie...

What If I told you that was the most productive WR group we've had since then?

Sounds like a 30 for 30 intro.

So. So. Sad.

If northcutt catches those two bombs from garrard, The Jags woulda been Super bowl champs imo. Colts we creamed earlier that year and Chicago's QB beat them.

Can't wait to see whats next.

A coke head, 2 first round busts, a journeyman WR and an overpaid FA walk into a bar...

I blew a gasket when we drafted this guy.  Probably the maddest I have ever been after a draft pick.

I hated the pick personally.  I wanted Aaron Rodgers (and not as a WR).  I can't say Rodgers would have been the same if we drafted him.  I was far from a fan of picking up what I viewed as an experiment in the first round.   Of course I didn't follow the draft too closely back then.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I honestly don't remember hearing anybody back in 2005 say they wanted Rodgers. More common were Heath Miller and Mark Clayton. There was a lot of hype around Jones going into the draft. Sports Illustrated did a featured story on him. The pick was pretty well received in Jacksonville.

Yeah, I was excited about the Matt Jones pick. I was disappointed how his career here ended, I felt like he was finally turning the corner to becoming a good receiver.
