Jaguars are the Siberia of the NFL

#1

So I was listening to Mike North this mourning on 930 and he said something interesting.  Cartoon voice himself says the Jaguars are "the Siberia of the NFL".  It was in some strange conversation along the lines of 'how does Jacksonville have an NFL team and LA doesn't' travesty.  I wasn't offended because I don't even know what he was talking about, but that's an interesting take that the other hosts didn't seem to question.  What does it even mean?  Is this a thing?

Also, not trying to offend anyone from Chicago.  But I was there for like a week and not a single person there sounded like Mike North.

Jacksonville is one of 32 franchises in the NFL.  The city earned the right to that designation more than 20 years ago.  Some idiots in the media still don't get it.  LA is such a glorious market for the NFL that they've lost multiple franchises to other cities due to a lack of support by the fans and a lack of support by the city to provide an NFL class facility for teams to play in.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

"Siberia of the NFL"

I've heard that saying a few times, going way back.

I remember Buffalo being called that way back in the day. I think Green Bay was even described as that in the 70's/80's.

It's possible they meant the franchise in general terms since we have been so bad as of late.  If they meant the city of Jacksonville or the organization as a whole, they're just ignorant.  In either case, I'd ignore them.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Maybe they're not familiar with Buffalo, Miami, Jets, Oakland, or the new mess known as San Fran

You will need thicker skin if you are going to be a Jaguars fan, especially during these current times.

It's hard to be a Jags fan if your new to the game, but being there for the good times makes it a bit more bearable for sure. The media whoopin does get old though.

It's not negative talk that gets to me. I can take that. It's the complete lack of knowledge from the national media. No research done whatsoever. Pure ignorance, or stupidity. I am guessing both.

There is no doubt there is a lot of ignorance and lack of knowledge from the national media about the Jaguars.

They have their perception and it will be pretty hard to change it unless the Jags can start winning again.

That's just the way it is.

That is true. But in the mean time, those in the media, whose job it is to be on top of things they are talking about should be researched and accurate, not spew their opinions.

This is about a sports radio host out of Chicago right? Not exactly Edward R Murrow.

Not sure where he's from. I don't care if your in Jacksonville, Atlanta, Chicago, or Japan. If you're going to be in the media and report on the news, current events etc., you should be accurate.

These guys have to be shock jocks and say outrageous things to get noticed.

This is a business where the highest earners are clowns like Colin Cowherd, Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith.

You're right. They shouldn't be held accountable then.
