Why? He's a running back, and he'll go only as far as his line blocks. Plus, the Jags aren't realistic playoff contenders next season.

Quote:Why? He's a running back, and he'll go only as far as his line blocks. Plus, the Jags aren't realistic playoff contenders next season. Why? Because he's far and away the best RB in the draft, in my opinion. He's a special player and a playmaker. This teams needs special players and playmakers anywhere they can get them. If his knee injury hadn't happened, I think we would be talking about him being taken earlier in the 1st than we've seen a RB taken in a while. I'm not saying to take him at pick 3 but I would love to see him here. They don't need to be realistic playoff contenders this season to take Gurley...what does that even mean? What's the point or argument there?

We have RBs on this roster that didn't go far even when the line blocked. Our running backs need significant improvement. A position that will touch the ball 25x/game and people don't want significant upgrades?

I'm not saying to take him at pick 3 but I would love to see him here. I took your argument to be debatable. I'm sorry it's offensive that your arguments are not accepted as fact. I'll rebut your arguments here in order: 1. Admitted. He's the best RB in the draft (on paper) if he recovers from surgery; therefore, he could be a special player, but so could several of the RBs who'll be picked after him. 2. "Being realistic playoff contenders this season to take Gurley" means that if we take Dave Caldwell at his word, RB is viewed as a final piece to add when the roster is mature -- because RBs tend to only a few prime seasons before they break down. We saw that with Mojo.

Quote:I took your argument to be debatable. I'm sorry it's offensive that your arguments are not accepted as fact. You could take a RB now. We may be ready for a super bowl run in 2-3 years. The player you drafted in 2015 will be young and just entering his prime.

Quote:I took your argument to be debatable. I'm sorry it's offensive that your arguments are not accepted as fact. It is debatable, I don't get what you were debating. That was the issue I had. Number 2 is the one I didn't understand, which I said, maybe I said it in a poor way. I don't think the team ends up with Gurley but I wish they would. I understand and remember what Caldwell said but I don't take him at his word. Gurley is so far ahead of the rest of the backs this year that if they were in a different draft position and his knee checks out as it appears to, I would like him to be picked. I do not want him at #3 and understand what you're saying. Gurley is a good all around RB though. He's not as quick or explosive as some of the other backs this year but he does a lot of things at a real high level. He would be an asset to have and grow with Bortles, Robinson, Lee etc. Quote:It is debatable, I don't get what you were debating. That was the issue I had. if gurleys knees hold up he would be a freakshow to have on your team in scoring position.

If we could somehow swing a trade with Cleveland for #12 and #19 plus parts, Gurley would be a nice get with the second pick.

A young qb needs a good running game to carry him, hard to fathom people think the current group is capable crop, this offense needs playmakers across the board and getting a rb(Gurley or not) is a recipe for a young qb to progress.

Quote:Yea I would get him at 12, cant risk losing him, draft Dupree or Eli Herold at 19 You two could very well be right that he goes earlier than 19 and I really like Gurley as a prospect, but I just don't think you can have him as the highlight of your draft class. A 1b to a pass rusher as 1a? Absolutely.
Quote:If we could somehow swing a trade with Cleveland for #12 and #19 plus parts, Gurley would be a nice get with the second pick. Our 3 for Browns 12,19, and Gipson ( plus any other later round to make its value if needed) is my hopes for this draft. Would fill FS and could take Gurley and then BAP (rusher) at 19. Would make my Thurday evening! ![]() GO JAGS!!
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

CBS recent 7 round mock draft has Gurley falling all the way to the middle of the 2nd round.

That's one mock projecting that teams are terrified of his ACL condition, but this article is pointing out that teams may not be so weary. Over 90 percent of the mocks have the Chargers taking a RB at #16, and if his leg is indeed checking out fine that RB is sure to be Gurley. In order for a team not named the Chargers to get Gurley, they'll probably have to make him a top 15 pick.

It's realistically possible the Chargers could take CB Trae Waynes , NT Danny Shelton, or OLB ( 3-4 ) Shane Ray if available with pick # 16. With the plan of addressing the RB position in Round 2 or 3. The Chargers can use help at all of these positions and might conclude there's more depth at RB in the draft than at these other positions.
