Greg Cosell's take on Kevin White (I personally think he's in play for the Jaguars)
|
via Rotoworld
After studying West Virginia WR Kevin White's college tape, NFL Films' Greg Cosell came away believing White's game and build were "reminiscent" of Terrell Owens. "That kind of sort of big, powerful, fast guy," observed Cosell. "White is big and explosive. I mean I think he was about 6-foot-2 1/2, 215. He's a quick-twitch explosive athlete for a kid that size. And he looks physical playing. When you see him on film, he just looks powerful and strong. And he has that explosive burst to him for a big wideout. He was very strong run after catch." Cosell suggested White might best fit in a "Don Coryell" type vertical offense. You can listen to Cosell's take on this year's wide receiver class at the link below. Mar 19 - 10:23 PM Admittedly, I haven't had a chance to watch much of White's highlights until the last couple of days; I've come away beyond impressed. White (on the field) is a man amongst boys, he's bigger/faster/stronger than most defensive backs, the guy is a splitting image of Julio Jones on the football field. I have to believe David Caldwell is considering Kevin White with the 3rd overall pick, the Jaguars haven't had a receiver this talented since Jimmy Smith. I don't believe the Jaguars have an alpha-dog amongst its current crop of receivers, Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee are more complimentary/second receivers (Imo). Kevin White would instantly slide into the "Z" receiver spot allowing Robinson & Lee to take advantage of defenses 2nd/3rd corners, I know David has come out and said they'd like to develop Lee as an outside receiver but I feel he's better suited for the slot due to his extreme quickness, and the lack of upper body strength required to fight the press off the LOS. White has the rare size, speed, concentration, toughness, and ball skills that will allow him to threaten defenses in the short/intermediate/deep passing game; his upside is immense, with the right coaching (Jerry Sullivan) he could turn into a top 3 receiver in the league. White is my favorite at 3 IF we go WR. I hope we don't but White would be my choice. Just plays angry and has a chip on his shoulder. Higher ceiling than Cooper but lower floor.
Crab Cakes and Football! That's what Jacksonville does!

White's size and elite athleticism allows him to be effective in the "small" and "big receiver" game, he can go up and snatch the ball out of the air at it's highest point (big receiver game) but is also has enough quickness/speed to be effective after the catch (small receiver game), he's a cross between Larry Fitzgerald and Julio Jones and is surefire all-pro talent.

I would not be shocked at all if Cooper or White were drafted by us. Caldwell has gone offense in each of his drafts in the first and probably knows his best chance to succeed (and to keep his job) is to have Bortles and our offense succeed.
Quote:he does look ridic good. Maybe better than Cooper. Looking at the tape/highlights, I'd say he's definitely better than Cooper and projects as a true "match-up nightmare" at the next level, too big/strong/fast for defensive backs. Defenses will have to roll coverage his way which would create one on one match-ups for Julius, Allen, and Marqise.
If we go WR I want White. I would like us to pick Vic Beasley, however.
I would not be disappointed if White was a Jaguar. Quote:I think Bridgewater at 3 is better value than Mack at 3, yes. <div> LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Clown. </div>

I'm with you, David is going to do everything within his means to make life easier for Blake, I'm all for taking a stud pass-rusher in the 1st round but I don't believe any of the pass rushers (Fowler, Beasley, Ray etc..) are transcendent talents. Kevin White (to me) is and would immediately make a significant impact this offense hasn't seen in a looongg time. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I've moved Kevin White ahead him as I believe White is the better player, at the end of the day this offense has to find a way to score 22-25 points/game in order to truly compete in this league, I believe White would expedite that process.
If they take White you can all say goodbye to Blackmon.

Quote:His 50/50 ball fight is outstanding Yes it is, rare concentration and ball skills. Also has the ability to take the top off with his speed, the guy is simply a beast.
Quote:Getting a franchise RB would help too, keeping Bortles with dudes that avg 3 ypc and a converted QB isnt gonna cut it Yes sir, this RB class is so deep, I can see them getting a guy like TJ Yeldon/David Johnson early in the 3rd. If they go Kevin White at 3, and a defensive player at 36, I can see David trading back into the 2nd round (like he did last year with Allen Robinson) and selecting a RB as well.
We missed out on Randall Cobb and Demarco Murray in FA, I have a feeling the WR and RB position will be addressed early (possibly 1st & 2nd round) in this draft.
