The ultimate smoke screen. No one knows who the Jags are targeting in the draft. I love it.
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
You really can't say any of this is a 'smokescreen' for any team. Planning for contingencies is more like it. Nobody knows what they plan to do but they need to be prepared for all rounds or if they trade down.

I would love Yeldon if he fell to the late 3rd or our pick in the 4th.

Quote:I think it is. Go back and look at how many players we drafted last year who were in for visits. We picked two of them. All but a few of them went before we picked again in the 2nd round after taking Bortles in the 1st. They were doing their homework on other 1st rounders if they didn't get Bortles. Most of the other players we drafted didn't need to be interviewed because we had them at the Senior Bowl. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:What would be the benefit of smoke screening a 3rd round RB? The only real smoke screens happen with the top 15 or so prospects Because they've also brought in Gordon, Gurley, and Ajayi. No one has any idea what round the Jags may draft a RB in.

They're talking to MULTIPLE running backs to try to account for different contingencies. It's called, being prepared. Smokescreen has GOT TO BE one of the most overused and incorrectly applied terms on this board this time of year. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:We can agree to disagree. I think there is some element of smokescreen, but I don't think they are bringing in players that they have no interest in at all. Obviously, they aren't going to announce their preference in running back and where they would like to draft him at. I think it's more of, "Hey, we want to take a closer look at this guy and if it leaves other teams guessing who we prefer, awesome." Quote:Precisely. Do you know that as a fact or are you speculating?

Quote:Do you know that as a fact or are you speculating? well, we know there's been more than just one RB visiting the Jaguars this week.

Quote:Oh..so you know 'smokescreen' is a fact then. I'm speculating without doubt. When I say things like "I think", I figured that was obvious. Your matter of fact tone in posts suggest you know more about what's going on than I do.
