Just watched the Mariotta episode and I do not see him translating well to the NFL. I think he is going to need a very specific scheme to make him successful. And am I crazy or does he not seem to have that 'it' factor? Gruden got on his case pretty bad and he was just dead on arrival. I almost hope the titans take him now so we can ( I hope) watch him fizzle out. Or let him fall to us and I can watch us collect a nice prize from some other team for him.

Hell be fine if he goes to a team where he doesn't have to play right away. The jets would be an ideal spot for him.

Idk what it is specifically but something about Mariota really underwhelms me. Add to that this slender frame and I just don't see him doing well at the next level. I really think all the talk about him going 2nd overall are overblown and he could have a Gabbert-like fall

No it's not just you. The guy seems to be a terrible prospect for the NFL. All he can do is run. The arm is JFF-esque and I'm not sure how good he is at reading defenses. The dude is thin. I mean he may be decent but I just don't see it. Speed wise, to me he isn't fast enough to be considered "special". RGIII and Vick were special due to their speed. In their respective eras, they were usually the fastest players on the field. Mariota is not that.

I dont think Winston or Mariota will amount to much in the NFL. Mariota was especially unimpressive in the national championship game, although maybe not as unimpressive as Winston was against Oregon. Both players have serious flaws in their game IMO, and I think Dave was right when he said Bortles would've been the first guy drafted this year. Prophetic, that Caldwell guy is.
