After watching them lose the Super Bowl in such an epic fashion when it was right there for them to win their very first Super Bowl, how bad must their true hardcore fans be feeling right now? I mean losing a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl when the biggest lead overcome previously was 10 points was just unbelievable.There's no doubt that Super Bowl loss will haunt/hurt them and their fans for a very long time, especially if they don't find a way to actually win one during their short current window.

 

Can the Falcons recover from that epic Super Bowl loss?

The NFC is so competitive, it's difficult to say that they'll even get back there again.


They're a good team, no doubt. But, so is Dallas, Seattle, etc.. And of course the Packers have Rodgers, who is very tough to beat in the playoffs.

I was on the Falcoholic blog earlier reading their live threads and it was great. Most of them were so sure they had it in the bag and then as the Patriots made their comeback, they want to shoot themselves. This is gonna sting for them for a looooong time.

I don't think it's a difficult bounce back at all.

 

They proved themselves worthy.  It was one of the best matchups of modern times, and one of the best Super Bowls (the only OT game.)

 

They have nothing to be ashamed of.

 

Unlike the Panthers, they'll be back and be strong in the playoffs again next season.

I see misery in their future for quite some time. IMO there is not much of a chance at all for them to rebound. The blow to the psyche will prove to much for Matty Ice. They will be Carolinaish/Newtonish after their defeat. Shambles, Chaos and all sorts of unsavory things. :yes:

I thought back to the 2014 Lions-Falcons game in London in which the Falcons led 21-0 at halftime,  before losing on a Matt Prater FG on a 2nd attempt after a bizarre penalty nullified a missed FG that would have given the Falcons the win. 

 

Being that yesterday the stakes were a zillion times higher for the Falcons,  I can't even imagine what their fans are going through.  The bright spot for them is their team at least got to the Super Bowl and has a strong foundation moving forward.

I agree the championship drought has to be extremely hard for the fans.

 

I just don't see the team itself caught up in that drama.

IMO there's as much or more talent on that team than Dallas and Green Bay.  Even Seattle, IMO.  I don't think they'll be a yoyo like Carolina.

I think shanahan was probably pretty important to the offense. even with them still having ryan and jones, its a tough road for any team to get back to the superbowl....the nfc south is a tough division too. 

 

i wouldnt even bet money on atlanta making it back to the playoffs.

Just read on Saturday Down South that Steve Sarkisian is leaving Alabama already and taking the open OC job for the Falcons.
