Bortles Expectation? Will Joeckel be better? And if Blackmon returns?

Quote:You can get a free drink if YOU want one. And guess what, you can go to a casino and not drink anything. CRAZY!!

Grocery store offer free samples, I guess that means they are encouraging obesity right?

Do they make it easy to get a drink or not? It is encouraging.

The grocery store giving a thimble full of yogurt is a pretty bad example. But they encourage you to perhaps buy it. Not fatten you up. That's like saying the free drinks are encouraging cirrhosis.

But little hotties coming up to you with freebie drinks on a tray certainly encourages. It doesn't mean you " have to"... But to say they don't encourage it is naive. Why would they give drinks for free? To " encourage" more gambling with liquid " courage".

The Jaguars are looking to trade M. Lewis even if they have to pay a portion of his salary to the sucker lucky team that provides a 7th round draft pick for him.

Quote:Everything you just typed is dumb. There certainly ARE dumb questions, mine wasn't one of them. But you gave a perfect example of a dumb answer.

Casinos "encouraging" drinking, LOL. A casino encourage gambling, thats it. Blackmon does not have a gambling problem. Is he allowed to go to a gas station that has beer? That might make his temptations worse right? What about a restaurant that serves alcohol, cant be there either right? Grocery store?

Blackmon has been spotted at a casino many times, none of them led to ANY misconduct. If he was at a bar you might have a point, but he wasnt, so you dont. Dont let those facts get in the way of your idiocy. Smile

Last time Blackmon was spotted at a casino he had a cup of cranberry juice and the board crucified him for being "drunk" at 9am.
Are you telling me that you don't think casinos want and encourage drinking? If so, I have to disregard your opinion because it means you're writing about something of which you have no knowledge. Not that such a thing makes you unusual... "many people without brains do an awful lot of talking" (quote from the scarecrow in 'the wizard of Oz').

I would think that it should be obvious to even the most brain dead among us that a recovering alcoholic shouldn't be hanging out where there is a lot of drinking taking place around him, such as at a casino. Suggesting that he has done it before with no ill effect is like arguing that you've played Russian roulette before with no ill effect... or similarly, driven a vehicle while under the influence with no ill effect. Just because he has done something unwise ( a polite way of saying 'stupid') before without negative consequences doesn't justify, on any level, doing it again.

Having said all this; do I know for certain that the 'tweat' picture was legitimate? No, I don't. It doesn't change the validity of anything I said however; it just means (if the picture is bogus) that I've been pontificating on this forum for nothing. There's really  nothing new about that. <sigh>

The picture looks pretty legit. Not saying there is no possibility of it being fake but who is JB outside of Jacksonville that some one needs to try and target him? Is it possible... yes. Probable.... I doubt it. At this point anyone calling the picture bogus is just in denial. Maybe they just couldn't fathom this guy having a problem so bad to the point he could give up a 7 figure job that he is naturally good at, sell his house, get multiple DUI's before 22 and still go to a casino. It blows my mind too but the seems to be the reality of the situation.

Whether you want to agree or not that casinos promote drinking; which they do, you cannot deny the idea that for a person who is "getting help" a casino is the last place they should step foot in. The issues he is having has surpassed a person just doing something foolish once. This guy has a problem. A serious problem at that. The fact he hasn't even attempted to contact his teammates is a problem in itself. We have heard more about Josh Gordon than JB. That is alarming to me.

I think we made the right choice with Bortles looking at this year's QB class. Joeckel has to be better this year or he won't be starting in 2016 and won't outlive his rookie contract. Blackmon is an after-thought. What coulda been.

No pain, no gain.

I know people are probably tired of Blackmon threads but I am just curious if people think we will hear some news on him in the next week.  I remember Dave saying that he was hoping that the team would have an idea of what was going to happen with Blackmon before the draft.  What do you guys think?
