Jason La Canfora CBS Sports NFL Insider There will be trades: 5 teams poised to draft Marcus Mariota at No. 2
|
Well, it will probably be another year we wont trade back unless a team falls in love with Amari Cooper or Kevin White. Its getting close to a guarantee that Mariota will go on the 2nd pick whether the Titans take him at 2 or some team trades up for him.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jaso...ta-at-no-2 There is a slight possibility Dave will go with Leonard Williams but its almost certain with the signing of Oderick and re signing of Miller, Dave will look at one of the premiere pass rushers in this class. Looking like Gregory, Beasley, or Fowler. I dont see Williams playing the NT spot nor will he beat out Odrick, the only way I think Dave could take Williams is if he feels Marks will not be able to come back 100%. Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said DT Sen'Derrick Marks (knee) is "on track" with his recovery from ACL surgery so I just dont see it. Its gonna be like shooting dice, Fowler to me is the safest pick but hopefully Dave makes the right pick and we get our future Leo and he becomes one of the better pass rushers in the league We show less advertisements to registered users. Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

You always draft the best player. No I am not down to debate this. Just look at the jags long list of failed picks to prove it to yourself. This may not be the most liked pick since we wouldn't get a young Leo behind Clemons but this is the right pick.
I always thought pressure up the middle was more lethal. Give me Williams if he's the best player.

We draft Winston? I dont agree with that, I think you draft best player along with need or other wise every year you could keep drafting the same position and never fill holes on your team. I do think Dave drafts the highest player on his board though and it will probably be Gregory or Fowler. If Williams is so good though and clearly the best player in the draft then he would go 1 or 2 right?

If you sign Williams, my thought is he takes Hood's spot immediately, and learns from/rotates with an injury-recovering Marks. Hood is not worth the $4m per year that he signed for last year, and has no dead money hit if released.

Hopefully, the Titans overplay their hand and we end up getting the trade offers.

I'll be very happy with a trade back at 3 the grab a few of the other late 1st and 2nd rounders, but I would also be very happy with Leonard Williams at 3.

MIller and Marks are coming of injuries...
Marks is coming off an ACL injury in the last game of the season... Very good chance Williams comes in and plays a ton….DL is all about having a great rotation….even if Miller//Marks are healthy Williams will play a ton. Odrick//Alualu Marks//Williams//Hood Miller//Jones Clemons//Branch//Smith (obviously the weak point) But that DT rotation looks pretty sick Quote:You dont always draft the best player because what if Mariota goes 1 and Williams goes 2? If Williams is so good though and clearly the best player in the draft then he would go 1 or 2 right? Neither qb in this draft is elite. I wouldn't really call either "the best player," but in the NFL qbs go early when teams need them.

Quote:MIller and Marks are coming of injuries... And where does that leave Ryan Davis? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:MIller and Marks are coming of injuries... Williams sounds like the safest pick if we can't trade down, but I'm hoping someone wants him bad enough to allow for a trade so we can truly make a need vs value pick.
