Re-watched the Jaguars vs Dolphins game last year

#1

Last night I got bored and decided to watch the game we played against the Dolphins last year.

To sum the game up in one word is FRUSTRATING!

We literally dominated the Dolphins on offense AND defense. Allen Robinson just missed a TD, we had stupid penalties that put us out of field goal range, and also had a FG blocked and missed. Cecil Shorts caught a slant pass and took it down to the 2 yard line and it got called back because of illegal motion (it was a bad call). We then ended up punting. The 2 picks 6's were the killers obviously.

Our defense was awesome. Miami literally couldn't do anything with the ball. I think they had something like 6 total yards near halftime and we were losing 10-3.

If we can just fix up some mistakes and execute just a little bit better, then we win that game and it's not even close.

There was also one play where Blake scrambled and then threw the ball out of bounds, but Denard Robinson was right there and Blake couldn't see him because the lineman were in the way. The play would've gone for a ton of yards and maybe a TD. An unfortunate play.

Just something to talk about. If we can tighten this offense up, I think we are a true sleeper team!

I remember this game as well.

I remember feeling the same way a couple of time last year.

We were so young on O that nothing seemed to be crisp.

At times Bortles would get hot and start driving us down the field only to shoot ourselves in the foot and settle for a field goal or worse a turnover.

Growth and maturity must happen. If there is, I see no reason we cant get close to 8 wins.

We drove the ball almost every time we had it. Denard Robinson was a threat out there. Way more significant than Gerhart.

The defense was so good. One player that I was actually really surprised that stood out to me was Tyson Alualu. Couple QB pressures and run stuffs.

Also a reason why I watched. To be honest, he didn't stand out to much to me. Run stuffing type of game for him. Olivier Vernon and Reshad Jones played the best on Miami's defense. I kept waiting and waiting for Odrick to make a play, but it never really came.

I remember that game very well.  There was a very obnoxious Miami fan sitting behind me, we nearly fought.

Anyway, I do remember us dominating for the majority of the game.  It was Blake's pick 6's that sealed the deal for Miami.

Just like the game at Indy. The defense was so damn good and the offense could not get out of it's own way. And both ended in blowouts because of mistakes and poor play.

As for the blocked field goal, I still cannot believe the special teams coach did not get canned. As bas a special teams performance last year as I have ever seen.

Yep, we were down 6-0 at half at Indy..sigh..

Special teams were awful. I almost felt that every field goal attempt was going to get blocked.

This game was so frustrating. The dolphins, Eagles, Titans, Steelers, and maybe even bengals could and should have been wins. Not to mention the game vs the Colts where our D line was eating Luck for breakfast. Our Offense couldn't do anything though. It truly was a shame. Our D was doing so well.

You could add Baltimore to that list too. At Houston the final game too.

That can't be.

According to some folks, our defense was terrible last year...

What hurt us were big plays, but besides that they were so so so good. Telvin Smith was all over the place.

Many of the games last season were lost on account of the Jaguars mistakes. The offense would get into, scoring range and fail. Stuff like that happens on a young team. I see them overcoming these mistakes more and more.

If the Jags find a way to get 8 wins the Gus will get mentioned for COTY.

He won't win it, but he will get mentioned.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
