FS Parrish Gaines

#1

I was looking into the list of prospects available. Parrish Gaines stands 6'2" @ 208. Last year was his fist year at FS moving over from CB. From this cherry picked highlight video he looks like a smart player. Very decisive, plays fast and aggressive. Drives through his tackles. Routinely drives the lead blocker backward, sheds him, and makes the tackle. Very nice ball skills. You'll find him taking away half of the field. Plays like a "Gus" type of player. I dont know if he fits the scheme so I would like to see a complete game he was in. Highlight films are always fun and exciting to watch. Just wanted to share with you guys.

Here's his write up:

Quote: Strengths

Smart player who generally gets himself into the correct position on the field and has good awareness in zone coverage. Does a decent job of tackling in open field.

Weaknesses

Below average as a physical player. Does not get downhill and consistently attack in run support. Struggles to mirror and match when matched up in space.

Bottom Line

Nothing on tape stands out about him. He's below average in man coverage and as a physical, run support safety. With limited instincts and twitch, he could struggle to make a roster.

Sounds like he's headed towards late round-UDFA status.

Iirc service academy players have to fulfill a service commitment before they can play in the NFL.
