11 Simple Rules for Buying Your Bartender a Shot

Everybody loves taking shots with the bartender. A night out is just a hell of a lot more fun when you feel like the person pouring your drinks is a friend and not just someone providing you a service -- and in the entire history of mankind, nothing has ever cemented a friendship like taking shots together. Except maybe serving together in a war. But outside of that, it’s definitely taking shots.

Most non [BLEEP] people (and if you're buying them a shot, odds are you aren't a bad person) know thats not a good tip.  In fact, a lot of bartenders like when people buy them shots because it increases the total and they get tipped off that.

You're going to have to explain that to me because as I understand it, the tip stays with the bartender unless the staff pools their tips.

What he's saying is that if a patron buys a shot for the bartender, the patron's bill increases, and since most people tip based on the amount of the bill, it's likely the bartender's tip has increased.

I always loved the shot drinkers.  The bill would sky rocket quickly.
