Trent Richardson released

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/124700...richardson

Trent Richardson was released yesterday. Should we sign up? I am not sure its a right move or not. We atleast put him in the roster and let him compete for the starting job. I remember Marshawn Lynch was going through what Trent Richardson is currently going through in the early part of his career, Not saying he is the next Marshawn Lynch. But atleast we give $2M contract for one year (Proove me) and let him compete out. Trent needs no extra motivation to play against the Colts twice a year.

Not really the same Richardson never really proved he can carry the load at any point. Lynch his first 2 years had back to back 1000 yard seasons with a good ypc average.

Why is this in the Jaguars part of the forum?  He sucks anyways.  Always has since being in the NFL.

He sucks --- dances fro 2 seconds prior to hitting the hole.

Yes, because a guy who has now failed for 2 franchises is bound to be a stud for us, right?

No thanks.  There's no need to give a "prove it" deal to someone who has already proven what he is in the league with two different teams.  The guy is a bust.

NO

If he signs a one-year deal for the minimum, giving us the opportunity to cut him in camp with no cap ramifications, sure. If he comes in as anything other than a camp body with an outside chance to make the team, no thanks.

I think he'd sooner retire than be a camp body, tbqh.

They should have at least put him on the trading block and asked for a 1st rounder..

Almost as bad as drafting a punter in the 3rd round.

Hey OP, you need to watch this guy play.  Seriously.  We have 3 RBs already signed that are light years better than this guy.

Yeah, except that 3rd round punter is still on a roster.  The guy had already proven to be a bust in Cleveland, but some idiot in Indy's front office decided he was worth trading away a 1st round pick to get, only to release him after determining he was a bust...again.  Indy is the only front office that could make Cleveland's front office look like a bunch of geniuses.

You really burned us on that one.

Almost?

You traded a 1st round pick for a known commodity that wasn't very good.  Third round for a punter is a reach, but nowhere near the reach a 1st was for a Richardson that already wasn't showing much in the NFL.  And the third round is where better talent is harder to find.

Oh yeah, and the guy who drafted the Punter in the 3rd round?  Fired the same year.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Why would you advocate giving him $2m in a 1 year prove it deal?  He's worth the minimum, or near it, now.  I think the minimum with his years of service is somewhere around $0.7m.
