Yeldon

Is everyone forgetting about this guy? Could turn out to be a steal.

Not forgotten, he could be there at our #3 pick and i would take him there if available. Gordon, Gurley, Ajayi, Johnson, are all measured ahead of him on most boards. I like Duke Johnson but he might not make it to the third, but if he is gone by our #3 and Yeldon is there I would take him in a heart beat. 6'2 and 220lbs yeah, I love to see him in Teal.

Not a steal at all. I can see him being a sure bust. One, look what team he played for. Alabama had the pass attack and one of the best Offensive lines in college football.

if he is there 4th rounder or beyond...

No one's forgetting about him, but this draft is sooooo stacked at RB. Couple that with the devaluing of the position, and we're talking of a much later draft spot for him.

I like Yeldon and think hell be one of the few productive Bama backs. I also think David Cobb will be a guy who out performs his draft status.

Alabama's offensive line wasn't anything special. They lost all of their 1st round talent.

I think Yeldon is being slept on a little bit. I would consider it in the 3rd or 4th.

I like Yeldon a lot more wherever he is going to go than any RB at 36.

It's all about Duke Johnson or Gurley for me.

Personally I think Duke would be perfect for our blocking scheme and could really help Bortles out in the passing game.

He's tough, has elite burst and has a knack for finding gaps.

give me the best all-around back.. one that can catch and pass protect.

with good enough run blocking, denard can do just fine running the ball.

David Johnson is the guy you're describing.

I definitely wouldn't say David Johnson is the best RB in the class. Gurley is alone on that tier.

I do think Johnson is the best value in this class though. I like him more than Melvin Gordon straight up, for example.

Without his great OLine, his stats went down significantly.

He rushed 13 less times and gained 250 less yards last year.

His average YPC was year was 5.0 vs 6.0 the prior year and 6.3 the year before that.

Not sure about him on the next level. Fumbles alot, not great speed. Also a terrible pass blocker...and yes, that matters. Will not help him get on the field early in his career.

(This post was last modified: 03-12-2015, 04:38 PM by FreeAgent01.)

He dealt with a lot of hamstring and ankle injuries last year. Managing to rush for 5.0 ypc while banged up with an average line in the SEC is still pretty good.

Yeldon is one of those "yeah, but..." type of players. He has decent speed; yeah, but its not elite. He has decent strength; yeah, but he doesn't run with low pad level. He has good size; yeah, but he has lots of room to bulk up. He has good production; yeah, but it was mostly behind a good line.

Until the trend changes, I'd have to stay away from Bama and Wisc RBs.

Not saying someone can't pan out BUT it appears their NFL type Oline is the primary factor to their running games.

By that logic, shouldn't we just solely draft Alabama and Wisconsin linemen?

assuming gurleys knees hold up, he is easily the best rb in this draft.

Had he not injured that knee, Gurley goes top 10 possibly. Special talent. But that knee is a concern.
