Jaguars are said to be "very interested" in Brian Orakpo

Orakpo's a very good player when healthy, only problem is his significant injury history.
IIRC Brian Orakpo was a 4-3 defensive end in college, but pre-draft analyses revealed he is better suited as a 3-4 outside linebacker. So how does he fit in our 4-3 defense?
Orakpo is a great player that should come at a reduced price it's an easy buy

I'd rather have Worilds fwiw

Quote:I hope he can actually stay on the field... unless the Titans, Colts, or Texans sign him.

Quick question please... Does the Otto position require coverage ability?[/squote] Yes Quote:Quick question please... Yes. Watson's 4.5 speed was vaunted as one of the reasons the Jags liked him there. Obviously - that didn't work out - but it stands to reason that they'll probably want someone that runs sub 4.7 and isn't a stranger to dropping into coverage over there at OTTO. Thanks Not so sure I'd like to see Orakpo having to cover. Leo maybe?? Quote:Yes. Watson's 4.5 speed was vaunted as one of the reasons the Jags liked him there. You want someone who can drop back and play in space but at the same time be able to spend most of his time playing on the line of scrimmage and know how to take on blockers and rush the passer. A person who is experienced and qualified to do both doesn't really exist right now, he will need to be created. The jags tried more traditional LBs, but they were ineffective playing on the line of scrimmage and rushing. I think they need to try an athletic 3-4 OLB and see if he can play in space and cover when needed. Quote:And there lies the issue with the Otto. They thought they had it with Watson, but was severely mistaken. Quite frankly, finding someone who can drop back, rush the passer and not be a liability in the run game is a tough thing to ask. At best, you'll probably get someone who can do a bit of rush/drop, but doesn't do either one exceptionally well (if you prefer balance rather than swinging towards one end of the pendulum)
We basically need a 25 year-old Kevin Hardy. He'd be the perfect OTTO.

Orakpo signing would but the kind that doesnt effect draft at all, older player wont get a huge deal, he would be a guy you sign not worrying about giving too much money, so even if your going after Suh and Thomas you could sneak a deal in for him

Quote:You think Worilds is better? Or just a better fit for Otto?Yes. Also, Worilds is less likely to spend the season in the tub. Quote:We basically need a 25 year-old Kevin Hardy. Quote:im on board with this for sure.2 out of 3 are injured all ze time. I take Hughes McCourty Franklin... |
