For people that don't want to navigate the article here is the brief recap. The Jags have 59.9 million in cap space available, right at 10 mil more than the next highest teams. This is including their draft pool projections so it is more accurate than the other cap space estimates I have seen. They also have a much higher than average 70 players under contract, and much lower than average 14 FAs of their own. This is their blurb on the Jags FA spending situation: 

 

Oh to be the GM in Jacksonville this offseason, who currently has just under $60M cap dollars to "play with" - and that's after accounting for a $7.3M draft pool. They can add to that figure by cutting ties with RB Toby Gerhart and backup QB Chad Henne. We expect to see plenty of new faces in a Jaguars uniform in the coming months. 

 

The biggest worry is that there are an inordinate amount of other teams flush with 20+ million or much more in cap space this year, 17 teams to be exact. Even though we have the most cap space by a lot there will still be fierce competition for FAs. The Raiders, Browns, Jets, Colts, and Bears (and I'm sure a lot more) have all said they are going to be big spenders in FA. It is a good FA class overall, but I still fear that there will simply be so much competition that we will ultimately be disappointed with the marquee FA haul that the Jags wind up with.

25 million option on Revis is included so buy opting out would put them with +20 million cap space and thats enough o resign McCourty which would be 8-10 mill and Revis they would have to pay less or he is a FA.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports coach Sean Payton has "expressed a desire" to release RE Junior Galette.


The Saints just signed Galette to a four-year, $41.5 million extension in September. He went on to post 10 sacks and three forced fumbles after a 12-sack campaign in 2013. But Galette, 27 next month, got into some hot water with the law after the season, as he was arrested for domestic violence and simple battery before later being accused of sexual assault. Galette is due a fully-guaranteed $12.5 million roster bonus next month that the Saints will have to pay. They'd gain nothing by releasing him. Expect Galette back in NOLA this season.

That's a negative. Jahri only plays RG.

If anything put him there and move Linder.

The only reason I'm not concerned with the other teams having cash is because they have players on their team. Without looking at the list I would assume at least 85% of those teams have at least 2 guys they they will have to re-up with within the next year unless they plan on contributing to the free agent pool in 2016.

 

The jags on the other hand do not have anybody worth a big contract for at least another 2-3 years. We also have options to free up more money over then next 2-3 years by cutting various players and letting guys go in free agency ourselves. We have the most healthiest cap situation I have ever seen in the history of the cap era. We are set up to compete for top guys for the next few years if we wanted to.
