If there was a kicker in the draft who could score every time from your own forty yard line, where would he go? Where would you take him?

Alternatively, what if it was a punter who could down the ball inside the ten every single punt?

If their was a player that had 100% accuracy from as far back as your own 40 yard line, I would draft him #1 overall. With a player like that, you only need to get your drive to your own 40 and you are guaranteed 3 points, barring turnovers.

I was going through our games and if we had the aforementioned FG kicker, we would be able to change the losses against the Titans, the Ravens, and the 2nd Texans loss into wins. Basically, we could have gone 6-10 instead of 3-13 if we had the mentioned kicker. Obviously, if we were in more close games the impact of this kicker would have been greater.

The kicker would be a first rounder. The only problem is that it doesn't matter how accurate he is if the other team is scoring touchdowns. But you're basically converting somewhere around 40% of punts to 3 points. So if you punt 5 times a game that would net you roughly 6 points extra a game. Of course you factor in more points just due to his accuracy, but I'd say you'd get maybe up to an extra 9 points a game with a kicker like that.

As for the punter, that's a little confusing because he can't really control where the ball is downed at.

I would never spend a draft pick on a kicker or punter. No matter how great they are.

From your own 40? As in, 77-yard field goals guaranteed? I'd take him with the very first pick I had available. Can you imagine the value of having a weapon like that? You'd never lose a close game again.

The punter? Depends on my defense. Probably third round, but I'd consider him in the second. He's not directly scoring you any points, but on a team with a strong defense, that type of field position weapon would be devastating to the opponent.

Thanks for the replies. I think that kicker is worth the first pick. He shortens the field to forty yards instead of seventy.

If a kicker could do that, first pick and it's a no brainer

First round pick after 3 straight days of field goal highlights and Mayocks talking about needing this kind of elite leg strength at the next level.
