Never thought it would actually happen. While its not the fight it could have been a few years ago its still gonna be huge.

Good for boxing fans like myself.

Doesn't move my needle personally. Should've taken place 2-3 years ago.

Better late than never i guess. It seems like alot more people are calling out mayweather for fighting scared(or defensive whatever) than i remember in the past. Which i am glad to here because if floyd postponed this fight till pacman is almost 40 only to run around the ring avoiding exchanges from a guy who is well past his prime, i hope it stains his career.

I'll be getting this at the house. I won't be fighting the bar crowds that night just to see it.

i havent payed for a fight in a while. i may be doing the same thing for this one. the two fights ive wanted to see for years were Silva v GSP in UFC and pacman v mayweather in boxing. those two will be worth buying and putting on the dvr.

You're probably not gonna enjoy the fight then. That's how Mayweather has remained undefeated. Personally I don't enjoy watching Mayweather fight for that reason alone but I can respect and appreciate how good he has been at not engaging with dangerous fighters and not getting hit.

Because Pac will be dangerous and has hand speed I expect Mayweather to strictly counter punch all night, not take any risks, and try to get a decision.

Good lord, reading this makes me rethink buying it.  I mean, I figured thats how the fight would be....but reading it and putting it in perspective sucks.

Can you imagine how much cash Mayweather is going to make off this?!

Sorry man, I'm just telling you what you already knew. Still though most people will watch because its the biggest fight in years and everybody wants to see Mayweather possibly lose. That's why any of Mayweather's fights have made money lately. You think people have really been watching to see Mayweather coast for 12 rounds to decisions?

BTW, Dan Rafael of ESPN has this to say about the money:

"How much will each man make?

That is not clear exactly because so much of what they will earn will come from what the pay-per-view sells. The more it sells, the more they make. But ballpark, you're looking at Mayweather making well in excess of $100 million and Pacquiao making a bit less. Remember, about half the gross revenue generated by the pay-per-view goes to the cable and satellite providers. Millions more will go to cover expenses and to pay promoters, managers and HBO and Showtime."

I'm really hoping Pacman wins. The problem is Mayweather is going to duck and run, and he's going to rely on countering. Manny will get a flurry of shots in. I think he still has the speed, which might be too much for Floyd.

As far as paying for it, its hard to say. I'll watch it, but they are predicting 110 bucks to watch at home. That's too much. I'll got to a bar for that.

unfortunately i think you are right... my buddy and i were talking about it the other day, i wish mayweather would have fought pacman right around the time of the pacman/hatton fight... i remember freddie roach calling the round and the punch manny would drop ricky with and it was almost textbook like he predicted... i remember thinking "this guy is the best ive ever seen in my generation"... imo, this fight would be 10x the fight if it happen back then.

That's exactly why Mayweather never wanted to fight Pac at that time. I give Mayweather all the respect in the world for his accomplishments to date and whether he wins or loses against Pac he will still go down as an all timer.

I will always remember that he refused to fight Pac when they were both in their absolute primes though and nothing that happens going forward is going to change that.

I plan on buying this fight at home.  Everything I've read said right at $100 to buy it.  If it goes over $100, count me out.

Usually PPV's run $60 or $70 which is still a lot IMO but this is even pricier because its May vs Pac.

Yeah, UFC has overpriced their ppv's.  Most of them are not nearly worth the money they are asking.

$100 for Manny vs Mayweather is fine in my opinion.  If it was 3 or 4 years ago, I'd have paid $150.

What I have noticed over the years is that the first thing that goes in a boxer is head movement.  This is especially important in an offensive fighter who moves forward.   They get older, they lose the ability to reflexively move their head out of the way of a punch, and they seem to lose the continuous head movement required to keep an opponent confused.   When a fighter tries to get inside, he has to keep his head moving at all times or he's just going to walk right into punches.  A defensive fighter who generally is moving backwards or side to side isn't as reliant on head movement to avoid being hit.

I've also noticed over the years that boxing fans tend to greatly overrate offensive fighters and greatly underrate defensive fighters.

What I have just said may seem obvious to all you boxing aficionados, but I'm just explaining why I am picking Mayweather to win.   Both these guys are getting older, but I think age affects a fighter with Pacquiao's style more than it would affect a fighter with Mayweather's style.   I don't know what would have happened if these guys had fought a few years ago, but right now, I think Mayweather will pick him apart and win easily.
