Poll: Which Boxer Will Win The World Welterweight Title At The MGM Grand Resort And Casino In Las Vegas, NV, On May 2, 2015?
Floyd 'Money" Mayweather, Jr.
Manny 'Pac-Man" Pacquiao
[Show Results]

Mayweather v Pacquiao set for May 2nd

Quote:You think Mayweather cares about anything but himself? He doesn't care if people watch boxing or not. Pacman wanted to give a good fight for the fans but it takes two people to do that.

As a fan I move on to fights that are exciting and inform those who may be interested in the better fights.

Nevermind that Floyd threw more punches. You sure we watched the same fight?
LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

He threw six more punches than Pacman, good for him. Now tell me that Mayweather other then the first couple of rounds when he tried to be aggressive, then got caught and hurt in the 4th, actually tried to give an exciting fight to the fans. If you watched the fight like you say you did you know that once he got caught in the 4th he reverted back to his usual game plan and got the decision.

My statement was pretty clear that he doesn't care about what the fans want and only worries about the W. That's fine he's the best at that but dont for one second think he cares about giving fans an exciting fight.

Why should he care more about being exciting for the fans and not about getting the win?

Are you also opposed to teams taking knees in football? They should care more about being exciting than getting the win, no?

Nowhere did I say that he should care about being more exciting for the fans. I clearly stated that he doesn't care about the fans.

My response was to the other poster who implied that because Mayweather threw six more punches in the fight that it was in some way an indication of Mayweather pressing the action and creating an exciting fight. I simply said that's not the case regardless of the punch count.

The fight was not exciting and I knew it wasn't going to be. That's fine I still enjoyed it because I like the sport. Another poster initially said that it hurt the sport as a whole but again Mayweather doesn't care about the sport outside of himself. He's gonna do what he has to do and win his last fight and make his money. I have no issues with that.

Oh and btw I don't think any teams should take a knee when their closing out a game. I feel they should be forced to only throw the ball because it's more exciting that way. All I care about is the excitement!!!!

Mayweather's next opponent should wear lipstick and a wig. He would come out swinging and looking for a fight.

A tranny might land more punches than Manny did.

There would be more chances. Mayweather would be swinging wild and looking for a KO. Ray Rice would be his cornerman.

Why is anyone complaining about the fight?

If you've seen Floyd fight in the past decade or so you knew exactly what to expect going into this fight. He's going to score points. He's not go tic for tat with you. You have to cut off the ring and get him in the corner if you want to have any shot of getting him out of his tried and true game plan. Pacman knew that, Freddie Roach knew that but he still couldn't do anything about it. No other opponent has been able to either and that's what makes FM so good.

If anything I'm mad at Pacman's camp for offering injury as an excuse for his performance but I don't hear anyone ragging on Pac about that....

The Alvarez/Kirkland fight should be good and will make up for any disappointment felt in the PAC/FM fight.

Manny legitimately has an injury, having shoulder surgery, but that wasn't the reason he lost. Mayweather did his job better plain and simple.

Also, looking forward to the Canelo/Kirkland fight. I'm expecting an exciting fight.

Floyd is open to a rematch....lol.  I would be too if I just made that kind of money.  I can't imagine the amount of buys on the next fight would be anywhere near what it was for this one.

He fought knowingly on a bum shoulder and lied about it until after the fight. For all the people giving Floyd flack for "not giving the fans what they wanted to see" where's the flack for Pacman who equally contributed to a lackluster fight? He knew he wasn't anywhere near 100% yet took the fight and the payday anyway. But that's ok I guess.

Quote:You are right, but it does a disservice to boxing as a whole. This did nothing but knock it down a few more pegs.

I would struggle to put Mayweather in the top 25 pound for pound all time, and even top 10 at his weight class all time.

Have to agree with this. Some may enjoy it, but it is a big reason the sport is dieing. The buzz and excitement is gone. Just watched the first round of the Hagler/Hurns fight on facebook. I don't think those days are ever coming back.

Fans who bought it are ticked, and rightfully so.

Sport can't last if people aren't watching.

They only watch when something like this gets hype. Then when they get the type of fight they got, they slowly get more and more who don't get the next PPV, and start falling off that way.
