Henne has to learn the offense now too, and he's on his last year of his contract. It makes sense to get a younger guy on a longer contract to be the backup.

I came here to post this exact same thing. He obviously won't be given that opportunity here so his best bet would be to re-sign in Cleveland while Johnny Boozeall is dealing with rehab.

He's expecting to start somewhere.  That's not an option here.

 

Listen to the clip in the link above.  He knows that the best opportunity for him to be a starter somewhere is probably Cleveland with all the dysfunction they've got going on there.

I think he ends up back in Cleveland, where his competition for the starting job would be a guy who takes the NFL about as seriously as the Marx Brothers took film making.

If he doesnt end up staying a brown I could see him heading to Arizona or IDK maybe the Bills or someone who is still having ore QB issues.

 

I do think he is a better player than some folks have given him credit for but I dont believe he fits here.

The Bills certainly have a huge question mark at the QB position.  At the very least,  they need viable competition for E.J. Manuel.   The only concern I would have looking at the situation from a Bills standpoint is much like Cleveland,  the Buffalo area weather is not conducive for Brian Hoyer's skill set.   To be able to throw the ball effectively late in the season at Ralph Wilson Stadium,  a Joe Ferguson/ Jim Kelly type of arm seems to be needed as the physical part of the equation.   The wind at the Ralph is a major obstacle,  especially once summer becomes a distant memory.

No, he wouldn't be content to be Blake's backup. But I would like the Jags to sign McCown, recently cut by the Bucs, to compete with Henne. I don't think Henne gives the team much chance to win when he plays. Sure, he doesn't make many costly mistakes, but there's no killer instinct.
