“We have a plan,” Caldwell said. “We’re going to see what they can do. This is our week to figure it out. We have that opportunity, so that we don’t have to go work them out in the spring to find out. … It also helps us eliminate guys.”

The challenge is figuring out whether their ability works best at Leo or Otto. The Jaguars could address the position in the second round, which would likely put these players in the conversation.

“You look at their body type,” Bradley said. “What they did in college. You look at individual work in drills and figure out their skill set. What are they good at, and then you plug them in and see. You could see some Ottos play some Leo. The big thing for us, with those Ottos, we need to see them in rushing situations.”

A bit later in the article, it provides a little bit of analysis on Mauldin, Grissom and Flowers, and how they were used in the practices.

I would not at all be surprised if we draft one of those guys somewhere between rounds 2-4.

Trail is the most impressive from a physical standpoint. Has some character concerns I believe.

Another name to watch is a guy on the North squad, Nate Orchard from Utah. A lot of good things being said about him this week.

What I like about Orchard he has huge production but can still be had in the 3rd round

Watching the 1st Day live coverage with Mic'd up Babich gave some hints as to who they were looking at and who they liked.

I wasn't able to gleam every prospect they like or their intentions about the draft but here are a few things I noticed.

Only one of these players is an OLB/DE but here ya go.

Babich called these guys by name, pulled them aside for specific instruction and seemed to pay special attention to and provided more direct praise than with other prospects

Geneo Grissom

Denzel Perryman

Also, Babich seemed to key in on Cody Prewitt but he had to check with an assistant to be sure of his name. Makes me think he liked what he saw but had not had a lot of discussion about the guy.

The Jags camera followed Ladarius Gunter around for a while and it could possibly have been unintentional but Gus was giving specific individual instruction once and talking to him another time.

Maybe all of this means nothing and maybe it means something. I'm just sitting hear drinking the good stuff trying to read the tea leaves!

I was amused by Babich's sailors mouth and the praise he gave himself for the throws he made.... Truly Entertaining!

My concern with Cody Prewitt is his closing speed and his hands for the INT. This season he sometimes looked like he had hands of stone. Right now, I can see Prewitt taken late in Rd 2 and in my opinion it would be reaching to take him at Pick 36.

Now a guy that got the Jags attention this week is Clive Walford - TE - Miami and if the Jags have not signed a TE in Free Agency, he could be targeted in Rd 2 with Pick 36.

Ladarius Gunter is very intriguing as a long CB. This guy's stock is definitely on the rise.

Even if the Jaguars do sign a free agent tight end, drafting one is a good idea. But no matter who we sign in free agency, I want a free safety at #36 if any are worth that pick.

My top 2 Free Safeties are

1. Chris Hackett - TCU

2. Anthony Harris - Virginia

Both a Ball Hawks will great hands for the INT.

If you draft a Safety you want him to be a INT Machine to turn the game around.

Harris is listed by some as a SS but he is 6'1" 195 lbs - he could go as early as mid Rd 2 or fall to Pick 67

Chris Hackett is a Jr that declared late in the process but he is a tackling machine that plays the Centerfield and grabbed 7 Ints. He is currently rated as a 4th Rd selection but I think he rises to the top of Rd 3.

Erick Dragan - SS - Oregon was their 3rd string Safety due to injuries but still snagged 7 INTs. This guy is currently rated as a 7th Rd selection.

Another guy I like is Sam Carter - SS - TCU - another 7th Rd selection.

I was excited about Cody Prewitt early in the season then I watched a bunch of Ole Miss games and now I would not take him before Rd 4. He had a great Jr season but so not great Sr season. He needed the Sr Bowl to raise his stock.

That is one reason many juniors declare for the draft - they know what can happen next year by staying in school.

Good thing we are coaching Prewitt this week.
