Bears hire John Fox as their new HC

I think that the Bears just went from mediocre, to bad with John Fox as HC, but we'll see.

Im not a big fan of Fox either, with how the team had crashed and burned this past season I really wonder how they will do this coming season.

It will be interesting to see how many of the 2014 Broncos Assistant Coaches end up in Chicago.   Other than JDR,  I don't believe any of them latched on to another team yet.

With the Broncos,  Jaguars,  Falcons,  and Rams all having interest in Adam Gase in one way or another,   does John Fox attempt to lure Gase to Chicago?

One thing we may never know is who was on top of the Bears HC list before John Fox became available and interviewed with the Bears.

That man does know how to land on his feet.

John Fox is reportedly interested in hiring Mike Mularkey as Offensive Coordinator:

Good point.

This is the second straight time that John Fox didn't have to wait at least a year to become an NFL HC again.   That's not the norm in the NFL.

The Falcons want either Teryl Austin or Dan Quinn for the top job so Adam Gase's only chance of getting a head coach job this year is staying in Denver. Whether he stays in Denver as the OC or makes a lateral move depends on Peyton Manning and/or what the new coach wants.

Your question leads a similar one: Will JDR try to lure any Broncos assistants to Oakland, especially on the defensive side? Fox and Del Rio may compete for Denver's linebackers and defensive line coaches.

Why not Adam Gase?

If the report is true,   the reason could be Adam Gase wouldn't be a good fit with Jay Cutler.   It remains to be seen if Cutler is back but as of now,  Cutler is still a substantial part of the Bears payroll.

If Fox hires someone else, I'm sure that's a question Gace will have to answer in future interviews, along with explaining why the Broncos fired him rather than promote him to head coach.

Gase was not fired and is a leading candidate for the head coach job. I will never understand why people make up this stuff. All reports say Gase still works for the Broncos and was interviewed for a promotion.

Good news for Lions, Packers and Vikings fans!  (oh my!)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Anyone here remember the Steelers' offense when Mularkey was running it? Another case of "great coordinator, terrible head coach."

How can a head coach who took two teams to the Super Bowl and was in the playoffs all four years at his last job be terrible?

Oh JDub, silly JDub, I'm clearly talking about Mike Mularkey. Unless, of course, John Fox was the Steelers' offensive coordinator at some point.

Mike Mularkey the coordinator >>>> Mike Mularkey the head coach.

Anyone here remember the Falcons offense in the playoffs failing to score?  And how bad the Miami offense was the year he was OC there?  Another case of "Good positions coach who got more credit than he should have as a coordinator"

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
