I thought Gus was suppose to be a Defensive guru?

This team finished 26th in points per game allowed and 26th in yards given up.

Yea and stats tell you exactly how good or bad the defense was? SMH

last half of the season they played better but also had a few injuries.

Our defense shut down Pittsburgh and Baltimore 2 playoff teams. If the offense was on track like the defense or we had a diff OC we would have won those games.

Imagine how bad the team would have been if he weren't a defensive guru. :woot:

Relying on numbers only often makes people look bad in discussions. The defense nearly kept us in every game we played. Not only that but the offense was so bad, the def. Was on the field most of the game.
Can't wait to see whats next.

I thought fans did more than complain. The D has improved.

Weren't we dead last year? Lots of young talent, sacks improved tremendously. Not saying it's closed to good but I bet their is a significant improvement next season plus a better offense will help.

Sounds like you thought wrong. Blame yourself.

Don't you know points allowed proves everything. Can't believe they allowed all those pick sixes.

Weren't we a top 10 defense (statistically) for a few games in a row late in the season?

Good point add up the pick sixes and subtract that from the total and see where we land on the list

This is one of those eye test things. The defense was very good the last 12 games or so.

If the defense plays like crap, they are young. If they play great, Caldwell is a genius and Bradley is the most defensive minded coach in the league.

It doesnt help that Seattle finished first overall after not having Defensive Guru Gus Bradley for two years.. they are still going strong...????

They say players not plays...

that is true to a certain point...

Tell that to the Chiefs players after the first year they had Andy Reid

I find it ridiculous how many people are overlooking the numbers.  I believe you are what your record says you are.  We are a 3 win ball club.  The defense played decent in spurts but was no where near a top 10.

Good point, and they did sign a few veterans on Defense; Clemons, Bryant, Marks, Miller, Ball, etc

Yeah you take away the safeties, ST touchdowns, and pick 6's given up and it puts them about average.  That also doesn't take into account the poor field position given up on turnovers that led to points either.  You also look at the last half of the season and they were probably above average in points.

Yes they were no where near a top 10 yet, But they are no where near where the numbers say they are. They are better then 26th.

The Defensive line played better than average for most of the season, and at times the defense sparked like when they played the Eagles in the 1st half of the first game of the season.

or against the Giants that was a great defensive game in the 2nd half.

The defense main problem was it has the worst DBs in the league... numbers dont lie.
