Shaq Thompson, Hau’oli Kikaha, and Marcus Peters
|
Instead of making a thread about each I decided to make one big Huskies thread.
Shaq Thompson looks like a stud. He's a true football player. Line him up anywhere and he's going to do some good things. Some prefer him at RB, others have suggested moving him to safety in the form of playing that Polumalu style LB/Safety hybrid. IMO, he would be an ideal fit at OTTO linebacker. He's currently projected as a mid to late first round prospect. Kikaha was made for the LEO position and is almost the exact same size as Cris Clemons. He already has some pass rushing skills and wins the one on one matchups when called upon. He had some injury issues in the past, twice tearing his ACL, but was fully healthy this year leading the team with 13 sacks. Nonetheless the injuries will be a red flag heading into the offseason evaluations. He's currently projected as a mid-late 2nd to early 3rd round. Peters is an interesting case being that he was being touted as a first round CB and potentially the first CB off the board. He has the size and length that Bradley wants in his scheme and can play man coverage like nobody's business. He has major character issues though, as he was suspended for reportedly getting into it with his coach, was reinstated, then in in a separate incident he reportedly tried to choke his coach and was sequentially kicked off the team. He's being projected as high as the 2nd round and could fall all the way to the 4th or lower. What are your opinions of these 3?

Peters got into a physical altercation with coaches at UW, if I'm not mistaken.
Doubt he is even on the board due to character issues.
Shaq s a good player but hes a will. Last time I checked he's what, 220? Otto is a pass rush and coverage hybrid, you need more weight than that.

Yeah. Bruce Irvin is 250 and plays that position for the Seahawks. I don't see it with Thompson in that role.

I don't think 8 pounds is a huge issue considering he can gain that weight spending a couple of weeks in the Mickey D's drive thru.

Thompson sounds like the sort of guy who makes big plays, which will be attractive.
But what about the other member of the team, Danny Shelton ? Is he declaring ? Some pundits seem to be putting him in the same bracket as Leonard Williams now !
Quote:what make you think Thompson couldn't play the OTTO? Quote:Ditto I think he is too small. As has been mentioned on this board before, Bruce Irvin plays that role for Seattle and is 250 pounds.
If Marcus Peters is there in the 3rd I believe we take him. We are at the point where I think we no longer care as much about character issues. If there isn't a major turn around this year, Caldwell may be gone. It will be all hands on deck and if we can get a contributor in the third, I believe it will happen.

Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion but I think he would fit well. If JT Thomas can come in and play well at OTTO and tip the scales sub 240 then Shaq Thompson shouldn't have an issue. Weight can be gained. Talent cannot. KJ Wright is 6'4 246 pounds. Would you have shied away from Telvin Smith in the draft because he was only 218 pounds?

Peters is high risk huge reward in rd 2
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:Peters is high risk huge reward in rd 2 I agree. With our luck he'll go to the Pats and become a shutdown corner.
