Marc Trestman

Sort of surprised no one has made this thread yet. There was a thread a couple weeks back saying if the Bears fired Trestman then we needed to fire Fisch and bring him here. Now is the chance.

Make no mistake, We all know the impact of Jerry Sullivan.

Imagine the OC version of Jerry Sullivan. An old respected guy who gets the most out of his players and has a time-tested downfield passing scheme. Jerry didn't make it well as an OC but as a WR coach he is legendary. I think Trestman simply didn't make a good head coach but he could be a legendary OC.

Bradley will take the first step in establishing himself as a legit HC in this league if he signs trestman and I believe we take that huge step forward I've been predicting since this past season began.

#1 Offense in 95 w/ Steve Young

#1 Offense in '03 w/ MVP Rich Gannon, Super Bowl

QB Guru and was a consultant for Sean Payton. I'd sign him up.

It was 2002. Let that sink in tho. He orchestrated Rich FREAKING ganon as the MVP in 2002. This Journeyman became an MVP under Trestman.....

That is the equivalent of Chad Henne becoming MVP in todays times.

This potentially has me really pumped
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

He's getting pull from TB and us. Has a relationship with Lovie as well and recall him being linked to there prior to us. Could come down to Qb preference

I would love this hire.

Doubt it happens because gus has a track record of bringing in scrubs and coaches equivalent to Undrafted rookie free agents if they were players.

Also, how much money would it take to get trestman here? More than bradley is currently making?

I think Trestman is our guy. He kind of stunk as a HC, but hes a great mind of Offense, and i think his down the field game would help Blake a lot. I am friends with a Bears fan, who told me that Trestman would be a great O cord where ever he ends up, Cutler was not Trestman's fault.

As far as Tampa Bay, would you rather have Blake as your QB, or a possible Rookie QB? I think Trestman is the guy, if anything his play calling should be lights years ahead of Jedd, and Trestman may benefit from only having to run the Offense, i also would think with Trestman you could see major changes on the O side of coaches.

Lovie hiring the man that succeeded him in Chi-Town would be awkward to say the least. Or Would It be?

So Tresman has been relieved of OC duties FIVE times? Why didn't he become an Long Tenure OC? Why did "Da Bears" fire his as the HC? Will he truly be the best fit for our OC position as an journeyman OC/QB coach?

Enquiring Minds...

Now some of that may have been because the coach above him was let go.

The former Hall of Fame Chicago Bears Head Coach, Mike Ditka called out the Bears this season for playing like they had no heart.   To me motivation is a big part of being a head coach in addition to teaching, inspiring, and basically getting the most out of your players.  It may have been mostly Jay Cutler's fault but I wouldnt suggest hiring Marc Trestman based on the Bears failure.  I would think a more proven OC like Mike Shanahan would be a better option.

That is part of football. In most of these scenarios, the head coach was let go.

If he's such a QB guru why didn't he have an influence on Jay Cutler?
