Marc Trestman bio...

<a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.coachmarctrestman.com/Coaching-Career.html' title="External link">http://www.coachmarc...ing-Career.html</a>

He has worked with a number of successful QBs, including Steve Young, Rich Gannon during his Super Bowl year, and Bernie Kosar.

Greg Roman info...

<a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.49ers.com/team/coaches/greg-roman/d5446825-2178-4237-ab3d-f3fca703dfd2' title="External link">http://www.49ers.com...3d-f3fca703dfd2</a>

I find his offensive line background interesting.

Marty Mornhinweg...

Doubtful he would take an OC position.

What effect does a new OC have on the OL? Do we continue the zone blocking? Which I'm ok with, just actually curious how much the OC influences that. I'm sure he does.

Considering they drafted a RG and C to play it... Yeah they'll likely stay the course.

I like the suggestions so far. I think it is a matter of getting someone to come to Jax. That said, Charlie Taaffe makes sense. Professional experience, tie to Bortles, past success.

Gus has already said they are sticking with ZBS. Gus will bring in an OC that believes in his philosophy, not the other way around.

Quote:Sources tell Big Cat Country that two names to keep an eye on in the search is former Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman and former OC Aaron Kromer. Both were fired from the Bears this season after a disappointing season, but offensively the Bears didn't really have huge issues. Trestman has also been mentioned as a candidate by Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union.
Kromer also has history with Gus in their days coaching the Bucs together. He also spent time on Sean Payton's staff and was interim HC in 2012.

I'm not sure about either one at this point.

In this link, it is revealed OL coach George yarno plans to return in 2015.

This is good on any number of levels.

It's great for Yarno, because it means he has beaten his cancer and has recovered sufficiently to resume his career.

It's good for the team because a more experienced coach is coaching the OL.

No thanks to Kromer. He threw Cutler under the bus as a source in the media, I can't imagine him earning a ton of trust with players any time soon after that. Anyways, he didn't even call the plays in Chicago. I think we need to go after someone who has experience as a playcaller in the NFL.

A good friend of mine in Chicago always blasted Trestman because he seemingly hated to run the ball. Dunno if that's a major cause for concern or not (or just bitter, old school fan syndrome), but something to be mindful of imo.

I would like to see Trestman, the downfield playing calling he has could make Bortles an amazing QB, and make the fan base very happy with a non stop up beat up tempo Offense.
