An offensive player has been drafted with the 4th pick every year since 2010

I was looking through the history of the draft at 4 and stumbled upon this conicidence. We would have to buck a trend not to take an offensive player (probably a RB) at 4 this year.

So the last time a defensive player was the #4 pick was 2009? Or are you only counting the current decade?

"Probably a RB" is incorrect. Yes, we can upgrade the position, but our top priority is a run blocker. Until our run blocking is fixed, even elite RBs can't go very far.

We need both. There's no OL worth #4, plus that can be filled in FA this year.

Give me Fournette or Cook at 4
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Are both players projected as top 5 picks?

I agree with this.

Cook is not projected in the top 10 in the mocks I've seen. Fournette is around 8.

What about McCaffery?

I love Cook, and man would I hate having to face him every year, but I just don't see how a guy with his fumbling issues gets drafted by Coughlin.

Anyone remember his "careless disregard for the football" comment?

Maybe those fumbling issues will drop his draft stock. He already is not valued at #4 anyway, right?

Fumbling can be corrected.

I know, but would you reach for a guy known to have fumbling problems whose primary job is carrying the football? If Dalvin Cook is not the best RB in college football, he should not be a top 5 pick.

BTW I have no opinion on who the best RB is.

Yes it can, but are you going to spend #4 on a guy who must correct a fatal flaw?

If the trend sticks and an offensive player goes at 4, the only guy who makes sense right now is fournette.

Who for the record, I believe is a victim of over analysis. The dude is a freak of nature and really talented.

Any team would be lucky to have him. The ankle is a non issue for me.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Think about who said that. I guarantee you nobody who lacks interest in FSU would say we should draft a fumbler at #4.

Unless Allen is there and he's far and away the best prospect on the board, Fournette definitely makes sense to continue the trend.  I expect us to go hard after a RT and G in FA and probably draft an O-lineman day 2.  From there they can justify drafting an elite RB prospect or if they have a safety or d-lineman rated higher, they can potentially justify that our run game should get better as a result of the O-line upgrade.

So Jonathan Allen is the only defensive player you like for the #4 pick?

I don't care if we draft him or not. It would be nice to see him play here, but whoever helps us become a better team is fine with me.

Fumbling can be corrected. Tom did it with Tiki.

If you think the reward is worth the risk. I've watched Dalvin for three years, so I think it would be worth it. He would give this offense an element we don't have.

Some people might agree with me and some might not.

My personal opinion is that I'm on the fence about him. Cook has shown up in most every game I've watched him play and as I said before, I'd hate to have to face him. I just think that his fumbles is going to really put him in an unfavorable light in Tom's eyes. That being said, it might be a thing that Tom feels is easily correctable and just run him through a bunch of "high and tight" drill regimens.

I wish we didn't have to talk about the draft in the post season.

Have you seen my baseball?
