Jags have "lost faith" in Leroy Reynolds

Per rotoworld:
Quote:Jaguars have 'lost faith' in LB Reynolds Our linebacker group is a complete mess and I fully expect it to be a point of emphasis this offseason.

Looks like the LB unit will be overhauled in the offseason. You've got a solid player in JT Thomas and a star in the making in Telvin Smith, but it's anyone's guess after that. Posluszny may or may not be back, Geno Hayes will likely be replaced, Lotulelei might be back as a backup and if this report is true, Reynolds won't be around.
I bet we take a strong look at one of SEA's free agent linebackers and also draft a LB somewhere between rounds 1-3, depending on our draft slot. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Part of the problem of having any faith in UDFA's.Hhhmmm the Steelers had quite a bit of faith in James Harrison for many years.

Quote:Hhhmmm the Steelers had quite a bit of faith in James Harrison for many years. Harrison didn't play meaningful minutes until his third season. The Jaguars have put alot of faith the last two years into UDFA's and waiver wire pickups. Part of the reason they are 1-9. Quote:Harrison didn't play meaningful minutes until his third season. And yet these UDFAs are still playing up to the level of the Mularkey vets so what the hell is your point? There is no "next guy up" mentality for this coaching staff. A starter goes down, we are screwed for the season.

If it comes down to Leonard Williams and Randy Gregory, lets hope we pick the right one this time.

He also said relying on udfa is PART of the reason we are ONE AND NINE. Can you really argue with that if you have a functioning brain?
Yeah. I think we've known that LB was a major issue for some time and guys like Reynolds, Thomas, George and Fortt are long shots to be anything more than placeholders.
Reynolds just happens to be one that has had his shot and couldn't do more than flash briefly before falling into mediocrity. Not an uncommon story for an UDFA. I appreciate Caldwell giving a number of guys like him a shot early in a total rebuild. If one or two work out it saves tons of money for cap space and will at least serve to create depth in some cases. Not a bad way to man a few spots until a quality player is drafted or signed. However - Having two of three LBs addressed this way is obviously a recipe for potential disaster. Looking forward to some fresh talent at LB next season.

Quote:I heard the same thing when it was between Fisher and Joeckel too. I think it's safe to say that Lenoard Williams and Randy Gregory are better prospects than what Eric Fisher and Luke Joeckel were coming out of their respective colleges.
Quote:I heard the same thing when it was between Fisher and Joeckel too. The 2013 draft was bad, especially the top 16 picks. Only EZ Ansah, Sheldon Richardson, and Star Lotulelei were have been worth their respective draft statuses. |
