Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Wisconsin has a history of making running backs look better than they are. Remember Ron Dayne? He busted out of the NFL.
Wisconsin running backs always have talent, but they are so worn down once they finally get to the nfl.

The guy broke the NCAA record who cares what he does in the NFL, great game

Quote:Pretty much. Wisconsin RBs have already experienced half of a normal NFL RBs career wear and tear before suiting up for their first preseason game. Melvin Gordon isn't your typical Wisconsin RB. I get what you guys are saying and it usually holds true. Gordon is different. By the way, according to what I'm looking at Ron Dayne had over 1200 carries in college...holy crap. Melvin Gordon has far less though. Only 82 his first two years and then 404 over the last two. Melvin Gordon is a different style of RB than your typical Wisconsin guy. Ron Dayne averaged 5.8 ypc his four years there. These last two seasons when Gordon has his higher number of carries he's averaging 7.7. 7.6 through all four. What a game. 408 yards and if I saw right that was in 3 quarters of football.
Quote:Don't forget about Montee Ball. Montee Ball admitted recently he should be the backup because Ronnie Hillman has been playing better than him in his absence. When he was at Wisconsin, I wanted him to be a Jaguar. Now a former quarterback is playing better than a pure running back form the same conference. We show less advertisements to registered users. How high is Gordon going to go? I wouldn't think 1st round, but mid 2nd round maybe?
Titansequaltrash aka my mini me. Follows me around like a cute puppy dog.
Gordon will be a fringe 1sr rounder at best. Not due to talent, just to the game and position. Past few years have shown you can get a serviceable back after the first.

Quote:Melvin Gordon isn't your typical Wisconsin RB. Completely agree. I think Gordon will be the exception to the Wisconsin backs flaming out in the league (jury is still out on Ball). Just watching the guy you can tell he's talented outside of the Wisconsin system. Vision, patience, explosion, size, speed, he has it all IMO. Just for those who will right him off as a system RB from Wisconsin with to much wear on the tires. If he averages 30 carries over his next four games he'll finish his career around 614 carries which isn't bad at all. As a reference point here are some guys in the league career rushing attempts in college. Bell 671, Murray 759, McCoy 584, Forte 833, Charles 533. I just feel like Gordon III's talent allow him to be a good RB regardless of his college production.
