I fully expect Bortles to come out on fire after the bye.

Hope you're right. But -

He's still a rookie. Bye week or not. I'm sure he'll look like one at times.

I think so as well. Highly optimistic and not apprehensive or bashful about saying it. We still might not win games, but you'll see some encouraging play and stats in these last six games. He will show us he's our dude going forward

Bortles is great after Bye Weeks.  Last season he completed 25 of 36 for 358 yards and 2 tds and 2 ints vs highly rated South Carolina.

Hopefully someone else steps up in Allen Robinsons place as the reliable third down guy.

J.W must know, if he was on fire would he not be badly burned? Is it possible to play football while one is ignited in flames?

On subject, the week off certainly will give him some wind down time and that will help. They say rookies are extremely tired at this point in the season after basically zero time off since before the combine. Not having his favorite target in A-Rob will sting though.

He's pretty much already shown he's the guy. His numbers are plenty good enough for where this offense is as a whole and an offseason's worth of development is just what the doctor ordered for the whole unit.

Agreed, but you're not going to get that through the thick skulls of some here.  They call this excuse making.

How much of it is thick headiness and how much is just plain old pessimism?  this team hasn't given much reason for optimism the past 7 years.

Honestly we lost Robinson for the year, his go to guy, CS3 is injury prone, Lee is not getting it yet, and Hurns drops a lot of passes. Bright part is Lewis is coming back but thats not even really going to factor much. I say we finish the year go into the offseason where Bortles has the whole offseason to learn and I think with a boosted up OL he will come out firing next year. I just don't see how one bye week will make much changes if any at all.

people keep saying Lee is lost, but watch him actually play good when finally given opportunities.  Then the story will be, "Oh look he's finally getting it."

I agree, maybe he just isn't getting enough playing time because of the other 3 receivers we have. But he gets to shine now, lets see what he can do. I love him in the slot, he has the speed and could be that check down WR.

If they spend the bye week working on getting his footwork and fundamentals back to where they were in training camp it will help out a lot. He has regressed abit back to his older footwork and throwing motion.

I really think the week off will help him a lot.  Give him a little break, and also he can take more time for his imperfections, rather than cramming everything into one weeks time.  We will see a more polished guy.  I think his throws will look much sharper, and his decision will be better.

Should've known those qb stats were fugazzi in that game when Henne was carving em up eh?

The only hope for footwork refinement from him will come in the offseason. A week for that type of makeover is like feeding a whale a tic tac.
