The one change I am open to is the firing of Fisch, with the one caveat that I don't want Blake to have the same excuse as Gabbert had which was "new playbook every year etc"
Yeah because a team working out 3 schemes and philosophies in 5 years will be all so helpful. Coaching is important but you still have to get the players on the field. We have mediocre players and a bunch of injuries to the mediocre players. Street free agency only goes so far for an already inexperienced team.
Birth of the Franchise - November 30, 1993
Death of the Franchise - November 29, 2011 Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.
So we can be in the same position or worse in another 2 years. Brilliant!
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
These conversations are inevitable with the continuing poor play on the field which is the bottom line of any football team. You are what your record says you are. Our record says we're terrible and while I'm not ascribing to a 'blow it up' mentality just yet, I can certainly understand why some do.

Quote:The one change I am open to is the firing of Fisch, with the one caveat that I don't want Blake to have the same excuse as Gabbert had which was "new playbook every year etc" So you want to replace the OC after Bortles rookie year but you want the new OC to continue to use Fisch's playbook? Otherwise, there is no way in the entire known universe to hire a new OC and avoid Bortles having to learn a new playbook.
“It just shows what kind of team we are. We’re a tough team. We like contact. We’re very physical. We want the issue to be brought to us so we can show people we can stand up to it and overcome it. Seeing that’s just a symbol of our team and who we are.” - Jaguars DT Malik Jackson
Quote:So you want to replace the OC after Bortles rookie year but you want the new OC to continue to use Fisch's playbook? My bad, reading that back I can see how you thought I meant that. The point I was attempting to make (poorly) is I'm open to a new OC, but I'd rather Blake have stability in having the same OC and playbook so he doesn't have the same excuses being made for him that Gabbert did. If he regresses/stinks then I'd rather know it's him then the situation he's in
You do realize that's what they did? They blew it up and this is what happens when you rebuild from scratch.

In order for that situation to happen the GM, HC, and OC all need to stay so there's not a scheme change or deviation in talent acquirement. I'm cool with it. We got a lot of rookies out there right now. Let them develop with the QB.
When a person is 5'10" and weigh 360 pounds, you're no longer embarrassed, you just learn to accept it. We're that guy right now so let's just accept it.

just to be fair to bradley, since we always reference the seahawks..... it took them 3 years until they got over the hump. they had 2 ok seasons (they started off in better shape than the jags) and then his third year is when they took it to the next level and havent really looked back.
i think dave and gus have us on the right track....... if we dont win another game this season or finish 2-14 and keep getting embarrassed, i could see gus getting the boot. the talent is there, the usage of the talent isnt yet.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
