Coaches on the hot seat
|
So far people have mostly been talking about Jim Harbaugh, Mike Smith, and Rex Ryan. But there also is a chance Doug Marrone will be fired in Buffalo and the Raiders, who already fired Dennis Allen, may want to get rid of interim head coach Tony Sporano too. Halfway through the 2014 season, which head coach do you think wil be out of a job when the season is over?
I will assume Gus Bradley's job is safe until the team says it is not. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I'll assume all the coaches you listed have jobs that are safe until the team says they're not.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
If Harbaugh is let go in SF and the Dolphins don't make the playoffs, Philbin is out. Dolphins owner wants Harbaugh.

Jim will get a job right away if for some reason he isnt with SF at the end of the year....

Emanuel not the QB and Watkins has helped that offense out a ton
If the 3-5 Bears don't have a major turnaround in the 2nd half of the season, Marc Trestman could be in serious danger of losing his job despite this being only his 2nd season as Bears HC. The Bears still have 5 games against NFC North opponents. They also have 5 home games remaining, which might not be a positive for them based on their 0-3 home record.
Quote:Both Ryans, Rex and Rob, should be fired. I don't know about Rob because the Packers only scored 23 points at New Orleans despite waiting until the last four minutes to take Aaron Rodgers out. Rex is as good as gone now. The Jets have already said they are not committed to him past this season, which sounds like the writing is on the wall. We show less advertisements to registered users. This is officially the age of FIRE THE HEAD COACH ... FOR UNICORNS!!! AND RAINBOWS!!!!!

Yes, it's too early to call for Rob's head but that N.O. defense is heading in the wrong direction after a decent turnaround last year.
On NY, Idzik (GM) is ad much to blame as Rex, IMO. They need to clean house.
Season Ticket holder since 2004.

Rex Ryan might be a viable option as Bears DC if he's let go by the Jets. But I can't imagine a team that's so heavily invested in Jay Cutler and a potential high octane Offense turning the keys to Rex Ryan as HC. Ryan usually takes a hands off approach to the Jets Offense and has struggled to find an Offensive Coordinator that can come close to maximizing the personnel on that side of the ball.
I'd say here's where everybody stands:
Ice Cold: (8/32: 25%) Bill Belichick Pete Carroll John Fox Chip Kelly Bruce Arians Mike McCoy Chuck Pagano Andy Reid Cool, like an Autumn Day: (4/32: 12.5%) Jay Gruden Bill O'Brien Jim Caldwell Mike McCarthy Room Temperature: (3/32: 9%) Sean Payton Mike Zimmer John Harbaugh Starting to warm up: (8/32: 25%) Gus Bradley Jason Garrett Mike Tomlin Jim Harbaugh Marvin Lewis Ken Whisenhunt Jeff Fisher Marc Trestman Warm, like a Summer Day: (3/32: 9%) Mike Pettine Tom Couhglin Ron Rivera On Fire: (3/32: 9%) Lovie Smith Doug Marrone Joe Philbin The Floor Is Lava: (2/32: 6%) Rex Ryan Mike Smith Turned to Ash: (1/32: 3%) Dennis Allen
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I can't agree with the Doctor on everything. It should be:
In Oven Ken Whisenhunt Joe Philbin On Fire Mike Smith Jim Harbaugh Lava Tony Sporano Rex Ryan
I'll be surprised if Lovie Smith or Ken Whisenhunt is fired after 1 season. Especially, considering how much effort Tampa Bay and Tennessee made in luring Smith and Whisenhunt, respectively. Even if Tampa Bay and Tennessee don't win another game this season, I think Smith and Whisenhunt will be back for at least one more season.

I don't think Ken Whisenhunt will be fired either, but Titans fans probably already think he was a bad hire. Lovie Smith has a better chance of winning some more games this season. |
