Chargers Moving to Los Angeles

#61

Interesting.  Apparently LA still has a heavy Raider fan base so the Chargers move to LA basically prevents the Raiders from going to LA.   Hence, a strong revolt against the Chargers from the LA population.

The Chargers Twitter page now has the Chargers new logo with their historic powder blue background.   Many in San DIego are upset by this because they wanted the Chargers to go back to this color for many years.

<p class="">My thoughts last night. That sure didn't take long. Wonder how many years it was in the works.

Quote:  If the NFL fans in LA were polled,  my guess is at least half would prefer no teams in the market,  with no restrictions in getting the best NFL games on over the air TV.

And not worsening the already bad traffic situation.

Quote:What does a 2.6B stadium do exactly that a 1B stadium doesn't do?

The stadium I thought was $1.8 vs $1.1 proposal in San Diego.

The rest of the money is the development of the rest of the acres around the stadium with offices, restaurants, concert venue, and housing. Also, apparently part of that is the new official home of the NFL Network offices and production site.

Apparently, there are rumours that if the whole project succeeds the new stadium/complex could become a near yearly host for the Super Bowl or other NFL events. I think a lot NFL execs are become less excited about the Super Bowl in all the cold weather climes, even if in covered stadiums, and the NFL Draft's attempt at Chicago.

Considering that NFL prime time games usually begin around 5:30pm PT,  traffic is going to be a nightmare to the nth degree for commuters when that stadium is hosting MNF and TNF games.

Chicago probably will have to change it's future bids for NFL Drafts after the rain and subfreezing wind chill temp. weather on the final day of the 2016 Draft when the draft was held outdoors in a large tent in Grant Park.    The last thing the NFL anticipated for an NFL Draft was ' Bears Weather".

History repeats itself.

LA Rams originally failed. La Radiers originally failed.

So lets try and try again.

Makes zero sense. When so many other cities would love one team. And can make it work.

But yet LA likes to follow the definition of insanity.

Quote:The one positive to this is that this could be the end of the line of billionaires bullying tax payers for stadium money.

You must have missed the part where Vegas decided they were willing to shell out three quarters of a billion dollars 4 months ago. There's some big money cities out there that could easily afford to foot the bill for a team if they wanted to. The city doesn't have much leverage in those negotiations.
