So can we all agree finally that our Defense is playing better?

#1

This is now 3 straight weeks. It's odd, we held both the squealers and the tacks to 10 and 16 points yet people on the board were still complaining about how bad our D is. With 3 straight weeks of solid performances, I think we can all agree now that the defense is playing better. Where you at TMD and bartramspringsihatelife?

Definitely playing better and just as definitely they still have work to do. Need more speed at the LB position and more talent overall in the secondary. There were a few instances of wide open receivers that Hoyer just missed. Also, I hope Branch doesn't miss to much time.

With that said, the effort has been outstanding and the coaching job to overcome the issues with the back 4 has been solid. Some pieces are emerging that will be cornerstones but another offseason for Caldwell well help the team overall.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

The D seems to finally play as a competent unit. They saved the offenses butt yesterday. It was a great home win.

With that said, let's wait just a couple if weeks. It's just one win. I still say the jury is out on Bradley, but he sure did respond this week when his back was against the wall.

I feel that in the squeelers and the tacks game they were more bend but don't break (nothing wrong with that).  Yesterday the D set the tone and dominated.  It was great.

Hoyer was rattled.  He had no clue what to do.

This for sure. We need that killer instinct so the average QB gets frustrated or scared.

I'd say with three straight games of better play, its definitely not just a fluke anymore, and qualifies as a trend.

I also am smart enough to realize that the opposing QB in the last 2 games were not good - there were TD's left on the field in both instances.

I'm encouraged by the better defensive play, but theres still a long way to go.

They were fortunate in many instances with overthrows/ key drops over the last 8 quarters.

As I posted in the other defense thread. the Jags are leading the league in points allowed the last 3 weeks. One against a statistically very strong offense, one against an average, and one against a poor one. Considering that Hoyer did miss leave some plays/points on the field I'd say it's probably safer to say our defense should settle into the 10-16 range for defenses, with plenty of room to improve considering back 7 youth/inexperience.

They're just not giving up the big plays. The Eagles game? So many big plays. Chargers had dumb Eddie Royal for huge plays on busted coverage.

I love this defense. Flying to the ball now.

lol....how about that one play where the one Jags defender stopped the forward progress of the Brown player and then like 5 or 6 other Jaguars flew to the play and gang tackled the guy at once. I was actually laughing out loud at that thinking "poor guy haha"....

It was good to see for a change.

I can think of one "TD left on the field", which was Hoyer overthrowing Cameron.

Nice try though.

It looked like a scene from a movie or something... I know exactly what you're talking about.

The D has played well for 3 straight weeks.  I don't think it is necessary for us to wait to determine the D is playing much better.

There normally are TD's left on the field in almost every game.  They also hit the guys on a lot of those drops and many of the over throws were due to pressure being put on the quarter back.

I guess you are forgetting the deep, underthrown, dying quail Hoyer offered when the one Brown receiver beat his coverage and was heading to the corner of the end zone. It would have been a TD, but the pass was so bad and underthrown that it actually bounced like 10 yards or so before the intended target.

Defensive pressure forced Hoyer to throw on the move. If he's in the pocket its an easy TD.

I thought it still should have been an easy TD. Hoyer was on the move, yes....but still think an NFL QB should be making that play for the TD.

The defense has really tightened up. That gives a lot of hope.

I dont think he's ever had that kind of arm though.
