Question for Gators fans

Question for the Gators fans here...
Was Dante Fowler lining up differently at the Gators and asked to perform a different role to the one he is now performing at Jacksonville? And what can we learn from his time with Florida Uni that improve his play for the Jags? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:He lined up in different positions. He is not a true Defensive End.Scheme determines that definition. In the scheme run here the last two years, he most assuredly is a 4-3 end. I think Fowler is a guy who is better off on the left side pass rushing against the right tackle. He seemed to have more success there in college. He always went inside on pass downs at Florida to the three, and even the one technique and gave guards and centers fits. I think taking advantage of that, at times, would be good for him, and the defense.

The more I think about Fowler, the more I think he's just a Rich Man's Ryan Davis.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Fowler got the majority of his snaps in the two point stance.
He was used vastly differently at Florida. The assumed he'd fit the LEO role well. And the jury is really still out on it since he had an injured rookie season and was on par with Beasley's rookie season for his first season. My assumption is that he plays a more traditional 4-3 DE role after putting on some weight and working with coaches more this offseason. He's had little time to hone his craft at the NFL level. Injury caused him to miss all of his rookie camp and he was limited in what little action he got early this season, iirc. He lined up vs both sides of the OLine as a LB and a DE at FL. "jack of all trades...." maybe. Which would be a bad look for DC. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Yeah he lined up all over the field at uf
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
I watched every Gator game of Dante's career. I know how his first season went... I don't care, I'd be surprised if Dante doesn't end up being a great player. An all-time Jag great. First season, it'll be okay. Hopefully, they use Dante differently next season

Barring injury, that generally creates a heckuva player.

Quote:That's sad... That's like saying he is a poor mans Jadeveon Clowney... Fowler is not on the same planet as Clowney.
Quote:The more I think about Fowler, the more I think he's just a Rich Man's Ryan Davis. IIRC Ryan Davis subbed for Sen'Derrick Marks when he was a Jaguar. That made him a DT, not a DE. He also never played OLB or what Gus Bradley called the Leo position. To answer the OP, Dante Fowler was a hybrid DE/OLB at Florida. That is why I always thought he should if not will be our "Leo" guy after the 2015 draft.
Quote:The more I think about Fowler, the more I think he's just a Rich Man's Ryan Davis. Haha it's funny you say that. I literally used the same exact comparison when Dante was going through the draft process.

Poor man's clowney... rich mans davis...
we just need him to be Fowler Jr. and be better than he was last season... I'm not ready to call him anything until we see more than 1 season. But ya'll can keep hatin' on him if you want. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
You can call him a promising player with high upside. His problem is penalties. That has nothing to do with the physical attributes - strength, speed, quickness, size, and versatility. It is all mental stuff. So when you take mental mistakes away, what do you get?

No, the uf football team will not fall backwards into leading the sec east at the end of next season. Towards the end of the recruitment period, uf will be ranked out of the top 25 recruiting rankings only to rise into the teens once more with the leftover 3/4 stars that didn't get a chair when the music stopped with a perennial blue blood or simply had a questionable off-field track record.
The swamp donkey will then be tarred and feathered. Was that the question? #33

The way you wrote that makes no sense.
Yes he played pretty much all over the front 7, DE, DT, OLB and ILB
He was never just asked to be an edge rusher

Quote:Yes he played pretty much all over the front 7, DE, DT, OLB and ILB That makes me a little worried, when we are talking about drafting players like Solomon Thomas and Jon Allen, who were also played across a number of positions. Not because they can't all be great players, but it just makes me wonder if we know how to get the best out of those players. But, maybe Wash has a better grasp of these things... |
