Per O'Halloran's twitter, Sullivan wanted to stick around but Marrone wants to go in another direction. Sullivan will stay in the Jax area and may still coach if the right situation comes along.

Tennessee has an openings for both their WR Coach and Assistant WR Coach positions.   It's easy to envision MIke Mularkey wanting to bring Jerry Sullivan to his staff to become their new WR Coach after the two worked together in Jax.

This doesn't make sense to me. I'm guessing Marrone wants to go younger? I don't know. He was one of the best coaches on the staff. He's why Hurns was so good so quickly.

Was he fired or is he hanging it up on his own terms?

Interesting move. I thought he'd be the safest position coach to be honest with you. I hope Marrone is bringing in a legit upgrade if that's the case.

Wait he got rid of Jerry Sulivan? The guy who made Mike Thomas look good? This is not a good direction.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Quote:I agree with the over-hyping of Sullivan.  Yeah we've had a few guys who have run good routes, but garbage time stats aside, they haven't been as amazing as his reputation.
What are you talking about? He makes Scrubs look decent. Mike Thomas, Cecil Shorts, etc. He was not over hyped at all. He developed the guys we have now. If anyone didn't deserve firing on the offensive side it was him.

Mike Thomas played a total of 7 games under Jerry Sullivan and hauled in 80 yards off 13 catches. I'll give you Cecil Shorts though.
