Caldwell you have to spend some money. The top 3 teams under the salary cap are

#1

1. The Jaguars

2. The Jets

3. The Browns?

Do you see a trend here?   This team is void of talent and a big part of that reason is the team being a major cheapskate.   If you count the dead money the Jags are well over 30 million dollars under the cap.

I understand the philosophy of building through the draft but you cannot leave your team barren of talent while doing it.

#1 in cap space #2 last year along with lots of losing.  Cmon man

The 2015 FAs don't look exciting outside Julius Thomas

I think you'll see a lot more spending this year. They'll identity FAs entering their prime and try to target those positions of need. FS, TE, and LB would be the most glaring positions.

When you take the money saved over the last two years, (50mil) and subtract it from the lease, well, you'll understand it won't take as long as others have imagined.

He's just reserving it for Bortles. By the time his contract expires QB's will be making 50 mill a year.

Except that's not how it works.

From the looks of it we may not need to look at any, unless for a reserve role. The line is starting to develop nicely.

These are also teams who haven't had draft picks who were worth re-signing which contributes to the low payroll.

He won't make it to the market. Malcolm Smith might though.

Julius Thomas was made by Peyton. He's just Marcedes Lewis surrounded by a good team.

When you factor in how much we are overpaying Poz and Marcedes, we'll easily have the most cap room of any team after they are cut by the new regime next year.

And look at how the good teams spent their money, they give big contracts to the players that THEY drafted.  We don't draft well and have nobody worth signing big.

Free Agency money could be spent well on the defensive side of the ball this upcoming off season. I would look at spending on a DT, CB, and possiblely OLB.
