Good, bad, and ugly FO edition

#1

Good - Coughlin as VP of football ops. Glad they didn't expect to make him the oldest HC in the league and then expect him to put in 100+ hours weekly. As a familiar figurehead who will help change the culture and energize the fanbase it was good to bring him in.

Bad - Dave extension. Hired worst HC in history, about to be the first GM in history to make a fifth straight top 5 pick (missing bad on 3 of them), and was clearly not being honest with his willingness to bring in a new HC who was wanting to move on from Bortles.

Ugly - Marrone hiring. He's a fine coach who will probably do an ok job, but why are we stuck wondering? He should have gotten at least half a season to remove all doubt. Gambling on the only guy that we could have put through a rigorous filter. What a screwed up process.

Reports about Bradley's hiring suggest Dave had less influence in it than we thought. Bottomline, He's brought in some serious players and made some savvy moves. I fully believe Bortles was sabotaged by many factors including injuries, Gus, etc. He deserves another season before the book is written. Joeckel has been a bust but look how bad that draft was overall. Way more landmines than safe ground. Fowler? He started to show up last couple games and DE's need 2-3 seasons to develop.

Marrone had this team putting up points and playing way better. Thats all I need to see. Coughlin will make sure this team doesn't settle with losing. The only check left I want is replacement supporting staff minus Sullivan.

Can't wait to see whats next.

Jacksonville defensive coaches were told previously that they'd be retained if Doug Marrone were to get the job.

Got another candidate for the bad or ugly!

So basically... no coaching changes other than Gus.  Really?  Really?  This team that won 3 games all year.. all the coaches should stay?

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

The Jaguars hype train never ever left the station this year. I guess that could be good for us fans. No use hoping for a winning record. We all know now that this team is gonna be 4-12 or 5-11 next year.

While im not exactly happy about that, Coughlin will install fear in those who let laziness and complacency run amok. I think that was Gus' downfall more than anything. No fear of being replaced. Now even caldwell is feeling it I bet.

He was just proving that maturation was not a new year's resolution for him.

I won't believe it without a spider chart. Tongue

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Marrone has bad wrist flexion. Won't be able to look at the play sheet from multiple arm angles. Not a FORCE coach. And his 3 cooler drill was bottom 5 percentile.
Make the Jags Great Again
Blake Bortles......YOU'RE FIRED!
Dave Caldwell.....YOU'RE FIRED!
