After 25% of the season in our 2nd year of rebuild. What we have learned
|
1. Blake Bortles has it. Courage, moxy, arm strength, etc. It would be scarey to think what this team would look like with some better talent around him.
2. The offensive line is a work in progress: They have played better the last 2 weeks and have actually opened up some running lanes. I think with some more time this could become a solid group. 3. Shorts cannot be counted on. The best ability is availability. His durability is poor and can't be relied upon 4. This coaching staff needs to be replaced. Bradley had a talented team in Seattle and has the whole tony robbins life coach thing going on. I can't think of anything else that is impressive. Fisch has horrible playcalling and the D coordinator should get fired Monday. I could write a whole other topic on this issue. Poor second half adjustments terrible situation calls, etc etc. 5. This whole secondary outside of Cyprien needs to be replaced. The Defensive line is #1 in sacks and has produced constant pressure. The issue is there are receivers running free wide open down the field. 6. We also need a whole Lb team. Poz is too slow, Hayes sucks, and whoever is on the other side stinks too. 7. The receiving group is showing promise. Allen Robinson is a good possession receiver. Hurns is an impact playmaker. Marcus Lee is the X Factor. Arrow is pointing up 8. The RB sitution meh. Denard ran well today while Gerhart just sucks. We need an upgrade 9. This team will be in a great position to acquire better talent next offseason. We will pick at or near the top of the draft and have the most cap space in the NFL. It's got to be time to open the check book. 10. The Jury is still out. Are we just young or are we young and terrible? Caldwell has made some mistakes. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
LOL at blaming the coaches and in the same breath saying we need a new roster.
Slow down there.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Quote:LOL at blaming the coaches and in the same breath saying we need a new roster. The issue is both. The talent is lacking and the Coaches have not put them in a good situation. A monkey could call our Defense and have the same result. ![]()
Gonna have to man up and spend some serious $$$ for next year. Tired of stinking and having this huge wad of cash sitting around doing nothing but collecting dust. We've been hesitant in the past with spending money, and look where it got us. Spend the money like the 49ers and Denver did and get a team that can compete for Super-Bowls. They know they can grab the best players, but they decided to go with average players for cheap and try to make them better.
2015?

Quote: That is just a flat out lie. In no way, shape or form has the team "produced constant pressure". Quote:The issue is both. Spending in the off season is never the answer. IF you look throughout the league throughout history you will find very little significant team help in the FA market. First, the best players are not available. Second, you can only find aging veterans who can fill a hole for a season or two.
The best way to build a team is to trade a good player for draft picks and then draft well. Regards........................the Chiefjag We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
I disagree Chiefjag. The times we did spend large amounts of money was in the 90's, and those were our greatest years. Notice how we've been hesitant with spending money since then, and look where it got us...
There's a reason why we have the largest cap space while sucking.
2015?
I think the new CBA and the restrictions on practice have had a great effect on keeping bad teams bad. How can you incorporate new players when you can barely be on the field together? If you are already a well established team and have a core that knows the coaching staff and playbook, you have an advantage.
Of course the QB is the ultimate equalizer. Right now we have major roster turn over and a lack of cohesion. Time together and some additional talent infusion is all we can hope to improve the team.

All I know is I'm not ready to call it the "right direction" still into year 2. It's simply a different direction but could yield the same results as Shack Harris and Gene Smith, A few good players with a whole lot of bad to average players around them.
So we need 7 new starters on defense - but also all new defensive coaches?
And a ridiculously young O-line is still "a work in progress" but the OC should be fired? @OP - I understand the legitimate gripes you have - but I don't know if your suggestions make sense as solutions. Seems like cutting off the nose to spite the face.
The Jags have not improved as a team.
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

A good loser is a good loser
Quote:Our best players then were drafted or retreads coached up, IIRC our big splash in free agency was Bryce Flop And it got the team in cap hell.
If guys are missing assignments so often, then the coaches arent hammering the point home enough. That's a coaching issue. This was supposed to be the year where we play competitively, and we arent accomplishing that. I honestly think there's a chance a good portion of the staff isnt back next year if this keeps up.
