A healthy Storm Johnson impresses Gus

Quote:I want the Jags to draft Gurley next year. Maybe they will get the 1st pick and be able to trade it for a load of picks to a QB needy team then use the 1st pick on Gurley. He's going to be great and as much as RB's get downplayed, the teams with great RB's are doing well. Look at the Cowboys, a team with good WR's, a good QB, and what was supposed to be a horrible D. They have a great RB and are 4-1.

Ehhh... wouldn't say cowboys have a great rb... I would have liked for us to pursue a guy like sproles... he's a vet and he brings a great dynamic out of the back field and would have been a great mentor for some like robinson.

As for storm... I was seriously impressed with what I saw yesterday... I felt like he carried the ball a a little loose and Since he had a problem in college with turning the ball over, I think that's the only thing he needs to work on that I could see.

I hate the Cowboys with a passion, but I think Murray is the best pure RB in the nfl.

I did like what I saw from Storm. Hopefully he gets more snaps against Tennessee

Murray has been the leading RB in the NFL since late last season and broke the Cowboys record for consecutive 100 yard games yesterday. I think that qualifies as pretty damn great.

Sounds like Gus likes what he saw from Storm. Per rotoworld:

Storm Johnson | JAC

(October 6, 2014 1:35 PM EDT)

Speaking Monday, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley called Storm Johnson's Week 5 running "very impressive."

Johnson's eight snaps were fourth amongst the Jags' running backs, but his 27 rushing yards led the team. Jacksonville went with a four-man committee of Johnson, Toby Gerhart, Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson against the Steelers, but probably doesn't want to repeat that approach going forward. There's a real chance Johnson gets a longer look in Week 6 against the Titans. He's worth a flier in 12-14 team leagues.

And there we go:

@HaysCarlyon: Gus says how can you argue that Storm showed up and did good things, says RB job open.

It's only normal to cycle through these guys until one grabs the starting job and runs with it.

If nobody is able to distinguish themselves for this role, we will draft a RB relatively high next year.

Knew it was coming. Toby falling flat on his face forced his hand.

It's great that gus recognizes this.  It would be greater if Fish did as well---and stopped running Amelia Gerhart into the Bermuda Triangle that is the middle of the field...

I think Fisch is realizing it as well.

Toby only got 4 carries after all.

Storm is the only guy who plays like a running back out there.

I'll definitely admit that I thought gerhart would hold the job down this year and perform better than he has.

But I've always said storm is the future starter. Most talented back on the team. He deserves his shot at this point.

I'd say todman has some ability too.
