Are we underestimating Ace Sanders?
|
Ace comes back in a couple weeks and all the talk is of him being a good punt returner, not so much at receiver. Last year he didn't really have a position. He played in the slot, out wide and in the backfield. He played 15 games and started 4. 51 Receptions for 484 (Both 2nd on the team behind CS3). Sounds like more than a punt returner to me. He can be a difference maker if used properly. I hope they don't overlook all that.

Ace has a special role with screens and quick slants like we saw last year. He's deadly in the return game, so there's that. He's an explosive play-maker and should repeat what he did last year.
2015?
I'd be nice to see him and Drob together and run and run those end around type plays. Where we have the option of handing it off to Drob or sanders comes around from the WR spot. Don't remeber what that type of play it is called, but it's been pretty successful with other teams this year.
If he is so good at punt returns, why not also use him for returning kickoffs too? He is better returning punts than Jordan Todman is returning kickoffs.
Actually Ace is only out one more week. His first game back is Week 5 against the Steelers. Quote:If he is so good at punt returns, why not also use him for returning kickoffs too? (27 yard per return) He ranked higher in his category than Ace did in his. They are also two slightly different skill sets. Some are more adept at one than the other. We have so many receivers when they are all healthy.
We Believe In Victory..
Quote:which means he didnt No it doesn't. All it means is he did not get credit.
Quote:which means he didnt I guess that depends on whether you care about the stats, or evaluating the guy based on his ability, which he certainly demonstrated on that play. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:We have so many receivers when they are all healthy. And none of them are suspended. Next year we can cut Mike Brown and Kerry Taylor.
Quote:I guess that depends on whether you care about the stats, or evaluating the guy based on his ability, which he certainly demonstrated on that play. I care about what actually happened. People say touchdowns are negated by penalties, not there was no touchdown because of a penalty. Big difference. Quote:I guess that depends on whether you care about the stats, or evaluating the guy based on his ability, which he certainly demonstrated on that playreally i agree with you, but i was speaking to my buddy JW in technical terms although the holding may be what sprung him. who's to say that if there is no holding, if Sanders would have taken it to the house? but i think Sanders has great return talent though
I'm not expecting too much, he hasn't played football in a long time and has been going through quite a lot by the sounds of it. I'll be happy just to see him back on the field and over his problems.
I think we're not likely to see too much of him before the bye week unless they have a lot of injuries. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

That usually is what happens when players are suspended for all of September.
Quote:really i agree with you, but i was speaking to my buddy JW in technical terms IIRC the "hold" was very questionable and didn't appear to impact the return. Even if it did though, I'd say if you're one hold (or good block) away from breaking it for a TD, you've got some return talent.

That was like what, 90 yards? Definitely not a short retrun. |
