Does it matter now? Bortles is the qb now. Doesn't matter who made the final call.

For what it's worth I think it was a combo of Dave/Gus
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I got in my car around 615 and the 1010xl postgame show with Hacker and T-Wigg was on. The first caller said the team should have brought in Tebow.

Never change 1010XL, never change.

Yeah, but they dumped that moron immediately and laughed it off. You can't change Gater fan, they're like the sun rise.

Funny I had thought to myself, did the owner call Gus and demand Bortles play?

I believe Bortles may have gone in the game to second half vs the Skins had we not given up so many sacks. But I think Khan, Gus and Caldwell were all in agreement the switch would be made soon. I'm thinkibg it was made by Gus/Caldwell. Khan does a good job at letting his guys do what they are supposedly good at without getting too involved

A good friend of mine was in the owner's booth for the game yesterday because they had Bowden Eye Associates spend the day with the owner.  When the crowd started chanting for Bortles before the half, I sent a text to my buddy to see if Khan was joining the chanting.  He said Khan was too busy schmoozing with sponsors.  He never left the booth during the half.  My friend did speak to him at the start of the 3rd quarter when Shad came and sat with him to watch Bortles, and to his credit, he asked the owner what he thought, and he simply said the new era had begun.

Gus and Henne both said in post game that the coaches had spoken to both QBs and said that the change could happen this week if things weren't working, so the wheels were in motion by the middle of last week to begin the switch.  I had been told that at the latest, they intended to have Bortles in the starting role by Pittsburgh unless something happened to accelerate or delay that such as an injury.

I had the feeling that at the halftime yesterday, it was the lowest this franchise has ever been.

It wasn't so much about whether Bortles was ready or not.  He has been ready for a few weeks now.

Putting Bortles out there was to have the fanbase talk about something else this Morning.  It partially worked.  I have hope Bortles makes up for the entire FAILURE that this team is, top to bottom.

Gus said BB would play when he was ready. What happened to BB during the first half that magically got him ready?

Chad Henne leading the team to a whopping one first down and throwing for 33 yrds in the first half (really, I was surprised he had this many yrds.  It felt like he had 10 yrds passing.  Not sure where 33 came from).

That is what magically got him ready.

@CPJ -- I originally thought the same thing.  I guess drastic circumstances call for drastic changes in philosophy.   I don't think anyone ever thought Henne could regress from being a below average QB to just being flat out terrible.

Henne's value is being a serviceable backup and a consultant to Bortles.    While Henne may not realize this today, this may actually extend his career by 10 years (standing on the sidelines instead of standing in the pocket getting crushed due to his lack of mobility and instinct).

Consultant to bortles?? I could see blake coming off the field after a long scoring drive and chad tells him " blake I wouldve done that way differently".

Wth consultant? Do you even want chad coming off the bench to back him up,(god forbid) if blake gets hurt in the 4th qtr?

It was obivious that Chad Henne wasnt going to be the starter for the entire season based on the Preseason performance of Blake compared to Chad, but to be fair what would you want Gus to do in this situation.  If Gus had said we are going with Bortles at the start of the season, he makes him look bad for saying he was going to sit and learn all year & makes him look bad for not giving Chad the chance he had promised him.  He had to wait until Chad had failed miserably, but I felt after the 2nd game he shouldve realized it then and had Blake start against the Colts at home.  Instead he waited until half time, which has me question a few of things he's done as a Head Coach....

Oh well it doesnt really matter how Blake got in the game, as long as he's there now..

Film room, identifying defenses etc.

There's no reason to think Chad couldn't be of use to him in ways related to general experience as an NFL QB.
