Can We Win Against The Colts?

#1
(This post was last modified: 09-16-2014, 03:33 AM by JagProphet.)

Assuming there will be roster changes this week, what would happen if:

1. Our starting o-line is - Joeckel, Beadles, Bowanko, Linder, Pasztor

2. Cyprien, Cecil Shorts, Clay Harbor and maybe Hurns (probably not hurns, but fingers crossed) return for Sunday

3. Defense steps up and actually plays like they are capable of playing.

Would it still be too hard to pull a victory? Considering the Colts have ZERO pass rush and a weak secondary, wouldn't that give Henne enough time to find an open receiver with the changes we made with our O-line? The Colts are hungry for a win, but they're really hurt defensively and if we actually show up Sunday; I think we can pull it off. There has to be some sort of urgency and hunger to win and they might just show up Sunday. At the very least we could make it competitive.

I just really doubt that we will play like we did against the Redksins for the home opener.

Maybe I'm just drunk off of this teal Kool-Aid. Thoughts?

There are a long list of reasons as to why we can win.

There's an even longer list of reasons why we'll get destroyed, and it all starts with allowing 55 unanswered points between the Eagles and Redskins game.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Assume our offensive line looks like this: Joeckel Beadles Bowanko Linder Pasztor. No way is Bradley going to completely overhaul it after only two weeks.

Assume the defensive line is still Bryant Marks Miller Branch to start with Grant, Hood, and Alualu rotating in. Coaches will figure out what they did wrong.

Assume Jonathan Cyprien and Cecil Shorts will be back, Allen Hurns will be out, and Chad Henne will compete with Blake Bortles for the starting job.

Now what do think?

It doesn't matter if they have no pass rush if they have the same gameplan as our two last opponents, just send 6+ rushers and Henne cannot do anything.

With Henne as QB we won't win a game this season unless someone shows us mercy and has a schedule change to play the Raiders.

I wasn't putting the O-line in order JW, but thanks for the tip about Bradley not overhauling it. Had me worried.

Just watched NFL Prime Time.  On at least 2 of Henne's sacks, he was staring at the open receiver and never pulled the trigger.

One sack---the RB was waiting in the Flat.

Another Sack---Lee was wide open on the side line running a post route.

Both times, Henne could have passed the ball, but for whatever reason just held on to it...

It's a simple game of math.  If we can't score more than 10-17 points, we ain't winning against most of the teams in this league.

Of course we can win against the Colts. The first half of the Eagles game shows that the defence can be dominant and the offence can do just enough when everything's rolling.

The second half of the Eagles game and the whole of the Washington game shows us that we shouldn't count on it. Tongue

Jaguars

The leagues worse Offense especially against the run (28th in passing), and 28th worst defense but the worst in allowing points with 75 against.

Tied for 2nd to last in points scored with 27 (Chiefs 25) The 28th ranked QB starting Chad Henne with an 81.8 rating & starting RB avg 2 yards per carry.

Based on what you have seen in the last two games, what makes you think the Jaguars can beat anyone but themselves?

If we are only down 21 - 0 or better at half, then we put Bortles in, considering we have Bowanko and Paztor in....no, probably not. But we might look like a football team in the second half.

Starting Henne is a loss. Period.

Henne was responsible, according to statline, to be responsible for two sacks. The other 8? That math isn't good which ever way you slice it.

Hennes play isn't as much concern to me as much as a line as effective as Saran wrap holding back a pass rush.

If Bortles is named the starter, we have a serious shot at winning this game.
