I dont know one play you have Guy intercept and run back in an elusive matter a Touchdown during Preseason or even more recently a sack against the Redskins and the same for Evans getting an interception during Preseason but then you will see a couple of miss assignments like that big run up the middle last week by Evans...

I think they both have their great moments and failures... almost equal...

Did Loston every play yesterday? I mean, we risk a 5th rounder being picked up by another team just to have him sit on the bench the whole game??

First of all - they are playing different positions.  Evans was at SS yesterday in place of Cyp. Guy took over for Evans last year at FS. 

 

They were both bad.  Until Cyp is at SS and the team upgrades the FS position substantially this secondary will struggle. Gus' scheme won't work without two good safeties. They funnel coverage toward the safeties way to often to have guys that can't identify their responsibility quickly and make plays.  They have to play fast and make receivers and TEs pay for the stuff over the middle.  They aren't doing that.  Cyp was beginning to do that, but….

It's strictly a numbers game. You don't go into a game with 10 or 11 healthy d-linemen and only  3 healthy safeties. They had to cover their butt in case of injury.

If Guy continues to start, expect a lot of Unsportsmanlike Like penalties.  He seems to like to spear players as they are on or going to the ground already.  Personally I think we need to find his replacement.

Now while the penalty yesterday wasn't a helmet/helmet like it was called, it was still unnecessary for him to get involved in that tackle as the player was already on his way to the ground.
