According to the guys on 1010XL, profootball focus credited 6 of the 10 sacks yesterday to the right side of the line; Brandon Linder and Cameron Bradfield gave up 3 sacks each. The left side gave up two (Luke and Zane gave up one respectively), and Chad Henne was credited with two sacks (holding on to the ball too long etc..). The silver lining is the left side seems to be solid, it's not great but it's not a liability. The Jags desperately need a healthy AP at RT, I have a feeling RG will be an issue all year long.

The sad thing about desperately needing Pazstor is that he isn't all-world. He is an adequate starter. It's scary when he would be considered our best hope. Nothing against him, but everything against the quality of the rest of the line.
One of these years.............
Pazstor will hopefully return soon. I think he'll make that other side much better, and take pressure off the rookie Linder. Wouldn't mind seeing us pick up a RG though. (or a Center for that matter)
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Bradfield was horrible yesterday, that's the worst I've seen a Jaguars tackle play since the Whimper days.

How about the RB's? I haven't heard much about it, but they must have had a bad game blocking as well. With all the problems on the right side, you'd think they'd send some help that way...

He's solid is pass pro but struggles in the run game, his presence will do wonders for this offense, but I do have doubts about AP being a long-term fixture for this team.
Pasztor will need more than a club on his hand when he gets back. He needs a gun to hold them back.
I would hope Luke and the left side would be more protective than the right. When we used the #2 overall pick to help our O-line, I expected something to come out of it.

I guess one postive from the game is how Telvin Smith looked getting the sack...

I think Luke will be fine; I'm not worried about him at all. It took a couple of years for Eugene Monroe to get up to speed as well, he needs to get stronger, and that comes with time.
Oesh wrote that the team might get Pazstor back this Sunday, so that's another domino towards Blake inching towards a start. Bowanko got a look late in the 4th too at Center replaceing McClendon.

I think his biggest struggle is the other 4 guys on the line playing like hot garbage. He's had his mistakes, but in comparison to the others out there, he's head and shoulders above the rest. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Here's PFFs breakdown of sacks, hits, and hurries:
Joeckel: 1 sack, 1 hit, 1 hurry McClendon: 1 sack, 1 hit, 1 hurry Beadles: 1 sack, 1 hurry Henne: 2 sacks Bradfield: 3 sacks, 1 hit, 2 hurries Linder: 3 sacks Young: 1 hurry Bowanko: 1 hit Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Joeckel and Beadles "only" gave up one sack each. Linder and Bradfield gave up 3 each.
The right side is a huge problem. They need Pasztor back in as he was solid last year and Linder needs to step up or they need to trade a draft pick for a guard. They can't have players giving up 3 sacks each on the line - that's insane.
Quote:Here's PFFs breakdown of sacks, hits, and hurries: Thanks for posting this, that might have been the worst performance from a RT I've ever seen. He made Ryan Kerrigan look like Lawrence Taylor, RK is a fine player, but isn't the dominant pass rusher his 4-sack statline suggest, so frustrating.
I think it's a slippery slope. If your RT is stinking, then your RG is going to struggle. If your RG struggles, the Center may have issues. If the Center has issues, chances are pretty good the LG is also going to have problems. They need to come together as a unit. Part of that depends on them actually settling on a configuration and allowing that to happen. They changed it in the middle of the game yesterday to get Bowanko and Young in there when the line really showed to be struggling.

if they keep Bowanko at center and Young at right tackle(if AP is Still out) they can have Mclendon move to RG. That might tighten things up a bit.
Put Bowanko at C, get Pasztor back, and I think we improve a little.
There has got to be a FA RG available better than what we have now. |
