Run Blocking

#1

The O-Line needs to grow a pair.  Philly's front seven is hardly the toughest we will see this year and they got throttled.  Absolutely manhandled.  It's bad enough to be hamstrung with a QB who makes me want to experiment with meth.  The running game needs the big men up front to move D-linemen off the ball.  As bad as Henne played the second half, the running game was awful the whole game.  So bad, I wouldn't fault Dave for kicking the tires on Incognito (though I really feel like that is a horrible idea).

Only a chump boos the home team!

Agree. I foresee next years draft consisting mainly of big uglies and a RB.

This OL has been garbage since they brought in the ZBS last year. It wasn't "great" before that either, but at least it could run block. This one seems to stink at everything.

And, I'll remind everyone that Yarno's OL's sucked in run blocking in Detroit too, so this isn't news for anyone who actually pays attention.

Wait till they face a defense like Houston.

First time poster, long time reader (since 2004).  Just decided to finally make an account.  I felt the O-line gave Henne plenty of time, but for some reason could not open any holes for any of the RB's.  I think it will all change once BB gets in the game.  In the preseason, you could see a big difference when he came in the game.

Well, having Bortles in there should help somewhat since the entire defense isn't expecting something in the first 10 yard area like it does when Henne's back there.

The fact that Bortles has the willingness and ability to attack the entire field should open things up.

Doesn't the threat of a pass help open up holes?

I think this whole fan base is sick of Henne.  I knew Henne could not keep it up the whole game.  He went back to his old self, checking down, instead of throwing past the sticks on 3rd down.

I think I read on PFF that zone blocking is statistically more effective than just man-on-man blocking.

I don't know why anyone though that an entirely new offensive line, playing with each other for the first time, would be any good at run blocking. It's gonna take a few games to get anything going.

The line is not entirely new. Cameron Bradfield has been our starting right tackle before. However, it was the first game Zane Beadles played as a Jaguar and Luke Joeckel's first full game at LT.

And McClendon... and Linder...

I can't believe you all are acting like we didn't know the O-line was going to struggle in September. We've known that having an entirely new group running an entirely new scheme would be an issue early this year, it's disingenuous for all you people to come on here and rail about it like its today's headline news.

As said Yarno's run blocking sucked in Detroit too. Coincidence?

People do realize what this OL is basically composed of right?

2 rookies (Linder//Joekel)...

Bradfield and Mc are backups

And Beadles

The line isn't going to be all world...especially as the 1st time playing as this unit

Not impressed with Beadles...I think Denver may get the last laugh on that deal.

As I been saying....Blocking for Peyton Manning isn't exactly difficult. I didn't like that FA addition when it happened and still hate it.

Gerhart just sucks. Not sure how many games you need to see this. D rob should start and Gerhart should be the 3rd down bruiser.

I knew we would have problems with both run and pass blocking. However I think part of it was the opponent. We can play better at Washington because the Redskins suck.
