Quote:I've never been a fan of Carr. Deal with it. You want him to suck because you don't think he will be a good QB? Almost sounds personal. You are a strange person.
Carr was probably my second or third favorite QB in this class (admittedly I liked him more than BB). From what I've seen of him it seems as though he's shed to a large degree his major problem he had pre-draft (shoddy footwork under pressure). I don't think he'll be as good as BB but I think he has a better arm and better athleticism than Teddy. I wouldn't be surprised if those three are the franchise QBs to come out of this draft, which would be awesome because each went to a team that has been spoiling for a legit signal caller for a long time.
As far as his rookie season, I think he'll make a lot of mistakes and a lot of WOW plays, which is mostly how I project him to be in his career. I see him as a more efficient and athletic Stafford. I think this year will be tough as he makes the level-of-competition adjustment as well as playing behind a pretty bad o-line. But if he is able to feed McFadden and MJD, and only use his arm when he has to, I think he'll be in good shape. Couple that with some high draft choices on the offensive line next year and he should be a force to reckon with. It sure would be cool if, five years down the line, we see Teddy, Carr, (Johnny?) and Blake leading their teams to long postseason runs... while the Texans shell out for Clowney and think of what might have been.

2015 NFL Draft - Analyzing Targets www.jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/topic/7892-2015-nfl-draft-analyzing-targets/
One specific concern I would have if associated with the Raiders is that in the season opener, Derek Carr will be facing a Rex Ryan coached Jets Defense. The blitzes and exotic looks are going to come from every direction. Hopefully, this game and the early part of the season in general doesn't substantially setback Derek Carr's career or worse.

Quote:Not sure how accurate this is (heard it on NFL network) apparently Carr is the first ever rookie QB to start for the Raiders week 1 Russell didn't start week 1? Quote:Russell didn't start week 1? Nope, just googled it. Josh McCown started week 1
Quote:http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...or-raidersFunny that he was cut by Carr... On paper the team has a lot of talent but the question is can a team full of aging veterans in decline rebound and remain healthy all season? |
