ICE BUCKET FRAUD: ALS FOUNDATION ADMITS THAT 73% OF DONATIONS ARE NOT USED FOR ALS RESEARCH

We've been duped. America is filled with fun-loving and caring people. The viral ice bucket challenge has combined both our sense of responsibility to our fellow human with fun. And it has been fun! Who didn't love seeing Sarah Palin doused?

Yeah most "charities" don't actually donate the majority of the money they take in, I think it's only 27% of the money they take in actually goes to research?

W/an figure of $70,000,000+ there's no way in hell that they could use this total as projected. Hopefully they'll donate some to other needy charities. This Ice Bucket challenge went virul beyony anyone's amagination...

Others will soon follow...

The article is incredibly misleading.  Especially when you see the numbers on the exact same page:

78% of the donations are going to fund research, education, and patient and community services.  Which is an acceptable amount.  It doesn't quite reach the 80%, but it certainly comes close.  The CEO's salary is a little high, but comparable to other charities.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I remember hearing something similar talked about on the radio a while back. The general idea is it takes money to raise money. And 20% could be significantly more than 90% depending on the amount raised.

I think in the past I read the wounded warriors project is one of the worse something like only 13% goes towards the actual donations.

I think it's closer to 58%.  It's not one of the worst -- but it could certainly be much better.

There's a veterans charity that calls us pretty often called Foundation for American Veterans.  They give only 6% of their donations towards actual help.

A lot of these groups (ESPECIALLY veterans groups) mess with their numbers in such ways that they look more charitable than they actually are.

There needs to be reform with what is considered a charity and what's not.  We're always careful about who we donate to.  Because $10.00 to one place can do more than $100.00 to another.

My employer allows us to go out in the community and find charitable organizations that we can volunteer at and they grant them money after we volunteer. We are always looking new organizations to work with and when I called Wounded Warrior Project they said we would have to pledge 10k before we could even volunteer. They also said they simply don't need volunteers. Makes you wonder if it's just someone's cash cow.

The Tampa Bay Times posted some good info on charities a few years back. Alot of them simply are in business to host parties and pay large salaries to their CEO's.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

This is a great site.  A lot of viral e-mails that are completely bogus are covered here.

It's like I'm reading The Onion!

And that's probably one of the more reputable sites the Drifter posts news stories from.
